What does it mean when a person says, "I'm mad as hell and I want my country back?"

I saw this on a sign advertising for a particular sandwich place in Philly. I feel uncomfortable about it and I'm not sure why. What is this supposed to mean? Who has taken the country?

it means they're a racist, redneck teabagger and you might want to give your money to another business?

I'm going to move this to the political forum, but generally, the sentiment about which you are asking comes from a white male who is concerned that ethnic minorities and women now control the country.

It means most likely they are a redneck or some neo-nazi.

I always wondered consering we stole the country to begin with...

Thank you. I was looking at sign at Geno Steaks in Philly: http://www.genosteaks.com/

My kids (biracial) were really hankering to try an authentic Philly cheese steak this weekend. I think I might avoid such a place. Is this pretty a pretty common attitude in Philly? How daunting.

It probably means you should go across the street and have your cheeses steak at Pat's.

Owner is the guy who was sued because won't serve anyone who orders in a language other than English. Complete jerk.

I thought about THAT! Is there some sort of Gaza Strip that you must cross over to eat the non-teabag cheesesteak? But of course there is no way to shield the kids from such attitudes forever. Just wondering if Philly is like South Boston or something--will we be eating a questionable "cheesesteak" while witnessing some thugs beat down brown people? Is there a lot of tension there? I thought it was the "City of Brotherly Love"...

.

I was in Philadelphia in January and the line to Geno's was around the block and you have to eat outside. I didn't think the sandwich was as good as when I was at Penn but I was younger and not as particular. He has a huge sign that tells you to speak English. He isn't all bad because he helps, all races, with families of police killed while on duty

It means "I can't believe that Black guy is smarter and more successful than I am!"

It means: "I am an idiot who only watches Fox News and repeats talking points that I don't understand. And black people make me scared, especially socialist fascists who want the government to take over my medicare!"
