It isn’t just that.
The kids and their parents are both very ambitious and very competitive. They want to develop and win. Is that so bad? |
I think they tried to balance the 2016s pretty evenly, you will probably see that they struggle against top teams this coming year because BSC doesn't have enough depth to have two teams compete against the top clubs in the region. They played each other in final of the Bethesda tournament in fall 2024. I think Pulisic dominated but interestingly the final score was never posted. Imagine a large tournament that doesn't post the score of a final? Can only be one reason, BC and JC. |
For 2016s, Pulisic and McKennie are the top teams and they are theoretically supposed to be equally strong. For 2017, Musah and Weah are also supposed to be balanced. That said, if you combined the top kids in each age group, rather than the cohort model where the top kids are carrying others who are not as far along in their development, the top Bethesda teams would be formidable. |
There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious or competitive but how does changing the name of the team help achieve the goal of improving players? I assume the team will still play in lower brackets in leagues and at tournaments, not go to Super Copa, etc. |
I am a BSC parent and it’s 100% true. It is sad. It is pathetic. What is similarly pathetic is the parents of small clubs who hate BSC and measure the self-worth of their club on beating the name, even if it is their A team going up against Bethesda’s 3rd team. Parents posting on IG, etc. 🤦🏻 |
How does lying to the kids on the B team that they are A team material help them? You don't need to work harder and be better to climb to a higher level because you're (in fantasy land) already there Hey you're not qualified for the job because of your 2nd rate academics and resume but we have another job with the same title 3 floors down. |
Haaaahahahahahahahahahaha. Pulisic won 8-0. That’s why JC ordered not to publish
|
And McKennie beat Pulisic 7-1 in the Maryland EDP Futsal State Cup final after tying 5-5 in the preliminary round. So, they're young, developing, results will vary widely day to day. Will be very interesting to watch this year to see if they can compete with SYC, Alexandria, Arlington, SAC, etc |
🤦 Are you really flexing on a U9 win? OMG…This is why they don’t post scores. This is why the US struggles to development players. The scores and winning do not matter until age 15 to scouts. Go read an Eckharte Tolle book and get grounded on something other than the results of your child’s team. |
+ 1000! Please, please parents--maintain some perspective on the outcome of a game played by little kids. Their mental health depends on it. |
Yes these threads are even more unhinged than usual lately 😬 |
|
Even at U15+ its the individual players performance that matters to scouts, not the scoreboard |
Assuming that is the reason, then I agree--pathetic. But there may be one other reason focused on development--some clubs at U12 will have two Academy I (Boys) or Pre-ECNL (Girls) teams so that both can play 11v11 in their Spring season. I don't see a problem with that as along as expectations are set for the kids--and an 11v11 between those two teams in that Spring league would probably make it clear, but still give both teams a chance to get ready for U13. Of course, it assumes that the second team is strong enough to compete. Thoughts? |
So why can't the A and B teams play 11 v 11? (which is not important btw) Why it has to be two teams labeled 'A' and 'A'? |
