Agreed. There is nothing revealing in either the announcement or the FAQs. They say nothing and answer none of the questions above. Literally the only thing of interest (or stands out) is as a PP mentioned - an ECNL-R mention on an FCV website. I think VIVA only has one girls team in ECNL-R (2009s).

VIVA had an ECNL-R team for every age group except u13, so not sure where you are getting that from. That said, the teams weren't very good except the 04s.

This "partnership" would seem to apply to kids in Fairfax and not Loudoun, hence the using of St. James instead of FCV. Worth noting, FCV and Annadale used to have partnership for Super Y, so these sides have preexisting relationship. Doubt this is any signal of a pending move. More just a branding exercise to get "pathway" to ECNL for some boys/girls.

They had the same "pathway" to ECNL R with or without TSJ/FCV. TSJ/FCV do not have ECNL R at all. Not coaches have changed, no practice locations have changed, no teams have changed. This is just a press release to say "something is happening" yet nothing is happening.

These things are jokes and is a desperate play by both clubs to look like they are doing something relevant.

Select TSJFCV players will be playing alongside Villarreal in weekly ECNL R matches this fall.
Call and ask. It’s not hard.

Correct. These people don’t actually want to know, though, they just want to speculate and throw stones.

No, this is how TSJFCV is building the Fairfax teams. You’ll see on their website that there are now FCV North and South teams. North are the existing Loudoun teams. South are in Fairfax near TSJ. Not every age group has a South team yet (they are new for 2021-22) and the ones they have are not full rosters. Enter ViVA to help fill out the TSJ South teams and help with their own sparse teams. The result is more fully rostered teams in Fairfax. It basically fills gaps that both had. There is nothing to change with the FCV north (Loudoun) teams which are fully rostered

It’s the beginning…why else bother with a TSJ South team?

Because the goal of every club is to get bigger. More teams, more age groups, boys and girls teams, rec teams, more paying parents.

And providing a pathway to competition at the ECNL R level. It makes sense.

But why not start new teams in the same location? Easier to manage.

Competition with other clubs for more players in Loudoun is different than Springfield where there are fewer clubs unless you want to travel a long way to practices . Also new field space can be a problem. TSJ owns its facility and ViVA has access to more fields.

Exactly. When a restaurant expands they don’t open a second restaurant right next door. Close enough where people will know about them but far enough to pull from a different customer base.

Sure. There are so many clubs doing this because…sure…there’s no competition for talent in Springfield…just like a restaurant…lmfao.

In 2 years, FCV will be entirely based out of TSJ. Can’t compete for talent against Loudoun and will try to squeeze in between VDA, bryc and MYS and end up a destination ecnl-r club.

Agreed. FCV has no future and this is a desperate move from a club that has its hands tied due to TSJ ownership and needs to provide a ROI to their masters

Last comment is a bit harsh.

Playing in ECNL R with VIVA is a good way for FCV GA bench and reserve players to get some extra play time.

Except the FAQ said that wasn’t happening this year.

Why don’t they do that with the FCV second and third teams?
