It's really atrocious and unwelcoming. We went this weekend to check out the new rec center with our kid and those signs are everywhere. It feels like you're being monitored by the neighbors.

I may just go back and remove the signs on public property. I especially hate the signs they put on the median island along MacArthur Blvd. It feels so icky, discriminatory, and unwelcoming.

Please do remove as many as you can. Lord knows DPW, DGS, DPR or whoever the hell is actually responsible for removing illegal posters from public property is not actually going to get around to doing it. Either that or start trolling them with your own homemade signs that express the true sentiments of the “Save Hardy Park” brigade.

Not to mention that whoever acronym is in charge of removing them probably doesn't want to endure the harassment that would start the minute they start taking a sign down.

I'll just say ... the lengths "neighbors" will go to in DC to block any change is quite remarkable. And yes, NIMBY in the extreme.

I live nearby and these crazies do not represent me. Might need to start organizing an army of reasonables who would be quite ok with new schools for our kids near where we live.

Why did the Bowser Administration rush through a lease extension for the Lab School on "old Hardy" but then propose to build a new public school on park land next door? Can someone explain how this makes sense?

I have an idea . . . Where can we get some “Trump 2024 - Save America” yard signs? Any about Critical Race Theory and other conservative causes de jour would work well too.

Something like this: https://www.prideearth.com/products/yard-sign-787. Just without the $39.99.

I love that it's $39.99, it's so Trumpian. Fleece the rubes at every opportunity, never give a sucker an even break.

I live in foxhall and it is the most racist awful entitled place on earth. There are good people but so many bad vocal self important pieces of garbage. Stay away from this neighborhood it is a total hell hole.

The locals got the LAB school designated a historic building to block the renovations that would be needed to convert it into a DCPS school. The lease extension was then perhaps the only remaining option. The Mayor could do with the parkland what she wanted, however.

I totally agree. I live in the neighborhood and own a house on the other side of the park. The FCCA and other intimidating voices who like to claim they are the voice of the neighborhood and we should do as they say have really ruined our experience here and made us feel so awful about this area, and frankly we've also experience racist comments on top of all the other crazy stuff, we have decided to simply not speak or even acknowledge people in this awful neighborhood - at least until this hardy school garbage passes. And mind you, as a family with children, we would love new schools both elementary and Hugh school in this area. I am so sick if the FCCA and the entrenched know it all's who feel they have been here forever and so they run the place it makes me sick.

You should speak up. Your voice could make a difference.

Be the change you want to see in the world

Hostile environment, poor transportation options. DC should really reconsider and try to sell the old GDS building.

Why give in and give the hostile neighbors what they want? Transportation can be easily addressed.

Absolutely DC should do this if they want to cede city planning processes to groups of racist NIMBYs.
