Sure you’re a “woman of color” No one believes you. It is or the first time I’ve heard these stories about Austin.

+1 agree with the () .. I'm a person of color. I'm Asian American. And no, Austin does not have my vote. I'm somewhat frugal, and building more to alleviate over crowded schools is more expensive than looking at adjacent clusters to alleviate over crowding. No one who is budget conscious would seriously think that building more is the answer to alleviate the overcrowded schools, or raisng taxes. |
| Woman of color here again. Honestly, you guys need to chill out. It's just a BOE race. First time a lot of normal middle class/working class people have gotten involved. The majority of us, including the moms work. We have no choice but to work and we identify with Stephen Austin's hard working ethic. We had no idea politics was only reserved for the elite non-working "women who lunch" of Montgomery County. So sorry for ruining your tea party. |
Normal middle-class person here. Full-time job. MCPS parent. Kind of baffled to be called an elite woman who lunches. Not a big fan of parties, but do like tea. Also, absolutely not supporting Steve Austin. |
|
Yes. you are right. You cannot possibly be "elite" because that would mean you had some decent level of education and critical thinking skills that would allow you to read a candidate's profile and discern that he is a fair and decent man with a smart set of proposals. But now, you just want to stick to your echo chamber.
|
Even for DCUM, this is something.^^^ |
|
Same here.
All of my friends absolutely not supporting Steve Austin. He hides too much information which doesn't make any sense to hide.
|
+1 another mom who works FT and not supporting Austin. I prefer someone who is going to look out for the entire schools, not just his neighborhood. |
How is he fair if he doesn't want to look at adjacent cluster to relieve overcrowding? And how is not looking at adjacent clusters to relieve over crowding "smart set of proposals"? IMO, Austin supporters also seem to be in an echo chamber. No Austin supporter has ever addressed the above. Austin has clearly indicated he is ok with boundary changes *within* the cluster, but not with adjacent. Does Austin and his supporters not realize that some of the current boundaries have neighborhoods zoned for the school further away? Like miles away.. when there is a closer school to their neighborhood? |
| Austin has my vote. You can’t live on 25,000 salary they pay board members. The others are either Union front or employee of MCPS - more conflict of interest than Austin. The place needs an outsider - and he’s the ultimate one. |
????????? |
| There’s nothing wrong with a teacher being in a union. My mom was a teacher for 40 years and was always in a union. She absolutely LOVED to teach and got so much joy in helping her students reach their goals. She taught everyone from the richest to the poorest kids. She brought work home EVERY night and would start preparing her classroom 3 weeks before school opened because she wanted it perfect for the kids. Every year she spent her own personal money (money that could have been spent on her own kids) to buy supplies for her students and she was excited about it. So don’t disparage our teachers just for “being in a union” especially if you have never made the kind of sacrifices that teachers make. |
|
Obviously his opponents are posting on here!
I will only vote for candidates who are for deportation. |
This is for the BOE, not POTUS. LOL
|
|
The problem isn't that she is a teacher or with the union. It's that she ran what is supposed to be a county-wide advocacy organization, and during her tenure completely ignored up-county and every W school that she loathes.
Many of you claim Stephen Austin only cares about his neighborhood, Lynne Harris has already proven she will do the same. Had she done a better job listening to all, Austin probably wouldn't have felt the need to enter the race. And no, I am not voting for either of them. |
