Yes I’m judging you. Just like you judge those who disagree with you and attack them for having different standards for their own children that don’t align with your laissez faire attitude. |
I didn't have sex in high school but wish I had. I couldn't get anyone to do it with me, |
I would wager that most of us are talking about sex we had in the 80s and most likely not in the area. I would never think that this is specific to DC or to this era. |
+1 And we dated for three years (15-18). |
No one is judging anyone in this thread except you. Share a story or GTFO instead of pontificating. You’re ruining an interesting thread. And, for the PP who thinks multiple premarital partners leads to divorce, still waiting for that peer-reviewed research. |
I’m not the PP but maybe they are thinking of the Institute for Family Studies (Wolfinger) one? That one is from a few years back.
I do wish that I had more sexual experience in my younger years. Truthfully I wish I had more relationship experience, period, as a teen and young woman. I wasn’t popular with guys at all. I was too tall, sturdy and nerdy. The frizzy hair didn’t help either. |
I regret it, mostly because I believed sex = power, but I was miserable. |
+10000000 Thank you. I thought I was the only one who thought that way |
I was 17, I'm 50 now. Jesus, seriously? Who cares. |
This is dumb. I was an exchange student in 1986 and realized how prudish Americans were. Teach your kids their value and safe sex and stop trying to put a bonnet on them. That's why Europeans have far fewer abortions. They teach their kids instead of making some great moral issue. Sex at 17. I survived. I got married at 28, 2 normal kids. |
Let me just say that yours are the kids that go off to college and literally sleep with every moving thing. |
I do judge parents who don’t educate their children on life basics because ignorance causes harm. But not beyond that. I DGAF if your kids screw anyone or not. |
Let me just say if you reread this thread the overwhelming majority felt an early experience lead to healthier sex lives later in life. And that education and birth control and open communication did as well. You missed the OP question which was not judgmental. |
Very few people are outraged by meat eaters. You're completely overreacting. I had my teenage sex in Iowa. Most kids there had sex in HS. These days, kids barely have any sex and it's a little concerning. They don't screw, drink, or work and aren't really adults until they are 30. |
See, you have nothing to worry about. Kids in this area are too busy with their crushing homework schedules to have sex. https://time.com/3966364/teen-sex/
I suspect most UMC kids are more likely to commit suicide than to get pregnant from premarital sex. |
