haha - ran across this one on TV this weekend. Felt the same way. My friend and I will forever call that movie "...And the Boat Sank"

Me, three! Saw this movie on a Transatlantic flight when it first came out, it seemed endless and I clearly remember hoping for the characters to die already. It was painful to watch, even on a plane. I can't imagine sitting through it in an actual theater.

I remember thinking the fiancé seemed hot and Leo DiCaprio looked like a little kid next to Kate Winslet. She looked like a woman, he looked like a teen - the casting was distracting. I felt bad for the fiancé. Indifferent about Leo.

Totally agree about the casting. It never made sense to me.

Is Tobey Maguire in it? Yes? It sucks. (Spiderman most especially)

It was only hateful toward the American president/Billy Bob Thornton's character. Given the last 3 years and the last two days especially, it's actually prescient.

The part about the vapid, sexy, loose American women was actually poking fun at that stereotype of American women. If anything, it's criticizing Brits who view American women that way.

I have got to show this one to my teen - we've been trying to watch 80s/90s movies together

The rebooted Star Trek movies. Give me the old ones any day; at least they were thoughtful, didn't rely on special effects for a story line, and didn't implausibly make an asshole, wet-behind-the-ears 20 year old as the captain. Give me a break.

As oldies go -- Gone With the Wind. Hate it. Boring as hell and zero sympathy for Scarlett. I saw it once as a teenager in the mid-90s and thought she was whiny and entitled and the whole movie, while a product of its time, does not wear well at all.

And another vote for the English Patient and Love Actually. (The latter seems to be the winner on this thread!)

I mean, most of what you say is right....but, I adore Chris Pine. I also thought they nailed the rest of the cast.

My favorite star trek movie remains 4-The Voyage Home Spock attempting to curse is the best thing ever.
