Bullis, Sidwell, Landon, Maret, Georgetown Day, Potomac ... does this ranking make sense?

To 13:52 -- As a former college admissions officer, I would agree with your characterization of Bullis as having a range of students in terms of academic ability. In fact, if you're correct in your estimate that approx. one-third of the class goes on to highly selectives colleges, that's comparable to the most competitive independent schools in the area. BTW, I have no personal or professional connection to Bullis.

By what measure is Bullis weak academically? Seniors are admitted to all the Ivies, although not in the same numbers as a Sidwell or St. Albans. AP Scores are strong. I would argue that students are balanced and happy, not stress cases.

I'm not sure that has to be a red flag. If they'll take any kid, for any reason, with any history, sure, that's a problem. But if they're taking kids who either (1) were a poor fit at the previous school but look like a better fit for Bullis or (2) have a coherent story about why they need another chance, that's a green flag in my book! After all, these are kids we're talking about.

+1. I have no connection to the school, but agree that schools that can excel with different kids, not just all cookie cutter kids at the same place and with the same learning style, are underestimated and underappreciated around here.

Bullis recently just admitted two Landon kids who were not asked back to the school for various cheating infractions. Ironically both play football. I'm not sure what the Bullis Headmaster is trying to do over there but it looks bad

I don't think the football playing is a point of irony -- Bullis's Head of School has said he wants to build a powerhouse football team that will rival Good Counsel.

1. Sidwell Friends - Very academically rigorous

2. Landon and Potomac - Both academically rigorous school

3. Georgetown Day- Only an inch below #2's. Just doesn't
have a good exposure to the arts and athletics.

4. Maret- Solid School but a notch below the top 3.

5. Bullis- Average to good private. There are more privates out there which are value for the money.

Landon builds some fine young men. See UVA lacross and Duke lacross teams.

And G'town Prep kicked out Kevin Plank (CEO and founder of Under Armour) and St. John's gave him another chance. Maybe he sees something in these kids and wants to give them another chance. And how do you know this?

Bullis can build a football program to rival Landon and Prep without a great deal of trouble.

But a program like Good Counsel,s is a real stretch. And in the unlikely event they could do this, what league would they play in? The IAC threw Prep out for being too good with Bullis's vote,

I can't see Episcopal or SSSA standing for this.

I think he does see something . . . lots of touchdowns. It's very touching.

Bullis will never become the level of Good Counsel football but they are getting good very quickly. the new football coach is recruiting very had and I do think the administration is lowering the standards on a case by case situation.

In a lot of cases. No SSAT required and a B average as long as you are one of the wanted athletes.
