Why am I paying for private when Wilson HS (DCPS) admits are this good?

Wilson kids are going to live in DC. It is less competitive applying out as a DC resident than it is from a public in Bethesda/Potomac or Northern VA. Much less competition and schools like to tick off the 50 states plus DC box.
