Growing up, Breyer's used to be the standard, just had milk, cream, sugar, and the flavor. No more than 5 ingredients. The cartons were actual half gallons. Then they added all the crap, including to beloved Breyer's mint chocolate chip.
Now, there are very few brands with limited ingredients. Some Haagen Das, and one line of Turkey Hill, Turkey Hill All Natural. The confusion here is because Turkey Hill also sells a line of ice creams with all the additives, as well as their All Nautural line.
If you stick to their All Natural line, they are delicious, inexpensive, and have just a few ingredients. They have a mint chocolate chip too.
Breyers has a natural line. Read the labels.
