Boys DA 2018-19 Season

On the topic of this thread (Boys' DA season), here are the scores from the last weekend's boys VDA College Showcase, U15 age group, with 4 non-MLS DA teams:
Richmond-1, Arlington-1
Bethesda-7, VDA-2
Arlington-1, Bethesda-1
VDA-3, Richmond-1.
Final Standing: Bethesda, VDA, Arlington, Richmond.

Pre-season and on a long weekend, so teams were probably missing a few key players. Not much should be read into these results, except that the teams were mostly well-matched. VDA has lost a few players to DCU and (possibly) Arlington, so they probably need a bit of time to find their groove.

Did VDA lose those players to DCU permanently, or were they just guest players for the GA cup? I've only seen 1 added to the actual roster (also 1 from Arlington).

Not sure. At least one player, a very good one, moved permanently from what I hear.

Boys DA will NOT be breaking out the U16s as its own age group.

Arlington did NOT get expansion to new age groups for Boys DA.

My guess is DCU blocked it. Their plan has always been to snatch up the local affiliates best players at by age 15.

Arlington announced they got boys expansion a month or so ago. They actually didn’t? Wow. I know a lot of 04s that will be surprised.

ASA website says boys have DA up to U18/19. That’s not true ?

Last March they announced expansion to boys U15–the 2004s playing DA this year. There was no U16. I don’t know of any new expansion news came out this year.

Multiple sources have confirmed that the Virginia Development Academy – born as a partnership between the Prince William Soccer, Inc., Virginia Soccer Association and Chantilly Youth Association to field a boys Development Academy program in 2014 – is set to move its top girls programming from Girls DA to ECNL. It’s the latest arrival in the latter league’s sustained push to grow its membership nationwide.

Arlington moving to girls DA is the antithesis of most of the other top girl Clubs. I wonder if the girls will eventually migrate away from Arlington in the older age groups like they used to.

The boys look to have a collapsing DA program. No U12, looks like no U13 in 2021 and they did not get expansion for U16.

I think we can pretty much say with Loudoun's migration that Club DA in the DMV is toast.

ASA wasn’t going to ‘get’ an ECNL squad (they were turned down) so they had to further hope that DA would accommodate them given their boy’s DA track record. Fortunately for them it happened. ASA now has the tough road of trying to build back the (girl’s) program to some level of respectability in the years forward. But it is no longer a destination club for elite players. With the boys not getting DA expansion, I wonder if they will follow Loudoun into ECNL.

Boy, its so much fun to watch the implosions.

If you read carefully, the ASA website says that the girls, not the boys have DA up to U18/19.
ASA's 2004 should be able to play in the quasi-DA U16 EDP league next year (as the 2003s did this year), hoping ASA gets to have a U16/17 expansion in 2020-21.
I cannot figure out why they had DA ID sessions for the 2003s though. They must have wrongly read the signals emanating from USDA.
