School is a part time gig reinforced at home. THAT is how kids succeed.

So you only allow teachers to teach your child? They didn't know how to read, write, talk, etc.. before K? You don't read to them? Help with homework? Give them fun workbooks, or take them to free museums or events? No, many parents do put in the time. Many don't and rely on school like it is their free baby-sitter.

The reason most kids are so dumb is because the curriculum can only do so much if parents aren't doing anything else at home to help these kids. So many parents think it is the school's job to educate and they get a free pass.

so glad we moved out of the county

Yes, I know this is not a helpful comment, but at least, instead of complaining, our family took action.

MCPS is imploding.

These kds are enrolled in MCPS. Talking about parent responsibility and birth-control are too late for MC tax payers and MCPS.
You cannot rewind the tape and stop it at conceive or send the Unaccompanied child out of US.
MCPS have to educate these kids at any cost, otherwise Dr. smith will lose his job.
As long as the society believes every child is about average and no child is too stupid to learn, MCPS has to show that they are trying to bring the low performers up to kids from MC families.
The problem is not unique to MCPS. This is a problem appears in every county in the US. The only solution is to blame and school district, the teachers, and the Superintendent.
