Exactly. That is the current policy. Look how well it is working out. |
Which schools around the DC area are failing and would require vouchers for other schools under ESSA? |
No, four years ago many jurisdictions applied for a waiver from this provision of NCLB. So, no transfers based on "failing" schools. |
BS. Most people would complain loudly, and then realize the world didn't spin off its axis just because segregation wasn't maintained. And the ones who are so afraid of poor brown kids can leave. Good riddance. |
Citation? Which schools in the DC area? |
And has this policy been changed through ESSA? |
You are no public schools supporter ![]() This country separates church and state. Giving away public monies for use in religious schools is promoting religion. |
“People support school vouchers for different reasons. Some make a free-market argument because they are opposed to public schooling. Others want to prop up sectarian teachings with taxpayer money,” Boston said. “DeVos has a foot in both camps, which does not bode well for our public schools.” Thoughts? |
Why do you care? The school is educating the child. If you think the voucher will cover the total cost, I think you'd be surprised. |
Arlington. I don't know about others. I am not sure if it was just the county, or of it's all of VA. |
Arlington is a county. Which school was failing and how long was the waiver for? What years? |
My mistake, it's the entire state of VA. No transfers based on NCL since 2012: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/virginia-wins-waiver-from-some-no-child-left-behind-provisions/2012/06/29/gJQA4HdVBW_story.html?utm_term=.17d39b20883d |
