The best part of that scene was Ryan complaining about having to "do this" and "talk about stuff" and his father shut him down by telling him that the forced sit-downs were the only time they ever have a chance to "talk about stuff." One of the scenes from this season of TM2 made it pretty obvious that a set up conversation was about to happen, when Corey was already placed in his chair and called out to Miranda to please bring him some water when she came in. He said something like "when you come in for this" that made it clear he knew she was on her way to the living room to sit on the couch across from him and begin a conversation about Leah and the girls(es). |

| This custody fight between Barbara and Jenelle over Jace is killing me. Barbara has raised him since he was a newborn. And she's seen Jenelle make one bad decision after another, bring one loser guy in after another, drugs, violence, etc. And now she's potentially going to have to hand over the little boy that she raised and loves like her own to that messed up household. I really feel for her. What a fucked up situation this is. So sad. |

I completely agree. But I don't think Jenelle will get custody. She's been arrested three times this year, twice for assault. I think she may be awarded formal visitation (right now Barbara allows her access but nothing is formal) to prepare for a possible transition of custody in the future. I don't believe it will ever get to a point where Jenelle is allowed full custody. She is truly a horrible, selfish person. She won't be able to stay out of trouble long enough o be deemed a stable parent for Jace. |

There's no way Jenelle will get custody. I think Barbara is actually trying to save her the pain of hearing it from a judge. Her plan is a good one, over time to slowly have Jace spend more time with Jenelle, but she does continue to make bad decision after bad decision. It's sad.

I have mixed feelings about Barb and Jenelle. If you go way back to Jenelle's 16 and Pregnant episode and the early Teen Mom 2s, Barb really did very little to foster a motherly instinct in Jenelle, something which always annoyed me. Jenelle picked out clothes for Jace and dressed him, Barb changed them for seemingly trivial reasons; Jenelle tried to get Jace's attention and get him to open his mouth while Barb was feeding him, Barb told her to move out of the way; Jenelle bought Jace a ride-on toy for his birthday that he wasn't quite ready for, Barb told her he was too little for it and that she should get him a keepsake cup. Little stuff like that. Now I know Jenelle had very little nurturing instinct in her to begin with, but I really think Barb could have done a better job, as her mother, to guide her in being a young mom. I really do believe Jenelle when she says Barb took over and wouldn't let her do anything for Jace. Of course, it didn't take long for that to become a necessity because Jenelle could not be trusted to take care of him, but I wonder if she had had a little more guidance, if she might have given it a better shot. I say this as an aunt of a teen mom. My niece had a baby at 16 (and another at 18, sigh), but her mother did a pretty decent job of walking that fine line between helping/guiding and enabling/taking over. She taught my niece how to take care of her baby and encouraged her efforts, pointed out when she was doing something really well, and gently explained how she could do some things better. They had a lot of bumps along the way, but the kids are in elementary school now and doing all right, and my niece has had steady employment and is in college. I think the drive to give her kids a good life was fostered by believing she could actually be a good mom. I just don't think Jenelle got that message early on, and quickly gave up. |

I agree with this. I think that Barbara is a better parent to Jace than Jenelle, but I get the feeling that Barbara doesnt want Jenelle to succeed, especially now that she is so attached to Jace and I believe that she is single again. I think that if Jenelle would stop dealing with losers and permanently kick the drugs, she would have a stronger argument to make, but she can't seem to keep a stable home for 6 months. She was soooo close, but she got obsessed with Nathan and allowed him to derail her progress. I think Barbara is so hurt by what Jenelle has become and now that she has Jace, she doesnt have the energy to try to save Jenelle, but I think if she had a bit more time and energy to nurture her more, their relationship would be much better. |
