By popular demand: Bars we miss in DC

Why are multiple PPs saying 18th street lounge? I haven't been there in probably 3 years, but you're making me want to run out there tomorrow to check it's still there! I haven't heard of any closure.

Chief Ike’s was always insane. Everyone was black out. Zebra room in cathedral heights - I used to go there as a student at NCS. Toledo lounge had great food. Millie and Als has super cheap pitchers of bud light on Wednesday and I used to go there with my friends and eat pizza and fries and get tanked. What is the place near 16th and U that had great trivia? I used to do that every week in my 20s so fun. I got an std from someone I hooked up with after getting super drunk at heaven and hell. Also remember the spaghetti factory in admo? I forget it’s other name but it was legendary.

How has nobody mentioned the Angry Inch?! (aka: the Angry Itch). So much hookup happening after that place. And jumbo slice. Man, I want some jumbo slice.

This thread made me so nostalgic for the late 90s/early 2000s. I was fully into eurotrash places - the ethnic nights (Persian Night, Greek Night, Brazilian Night... do they still have these? Sooooo many cute guys there, lol). My memories are fuzzy but here's where I remember going:

Cities and all the Adams Morgan places like Tryst
18th Street Lounge
Ozio
Ghana Cafe (sooooo fun, amazing African dance tunes, and I got sicker after a night there than I ever have)
The Bank (The Vault? club on F St)
The other clubs on F St (can't remember their names)
The Bayou (went there to see a Dead cover band in HS)
Chi-Cha Lounge
Vegas Lounge (college night was Tuesdays, and they would serve whoever)
Pandora on Pennsylvania Ave
Acropolis on Connecticut Ave for Greek night

So many other places, but they are gone now and I can't remember their names.

At the time I remember knowing that Rumors was the place for gross 40-year-olds who went to Dewey Beach. Now I'm 40

Not going but totally changing. Quoting Old Time DC on FB:
“I don't mean to sound old + grumpy, but this kind of encapsulates everything that's gratingly irritating about the new DC.”

Oh yes; the DC subreddit is OBSESSED with it (some ironically, some not).

There were four connected bars all owned by the same guy.

Basement - Peyote Cafe Karaoke
Street Level - Spaghetti Garden Restaurant
2nd Level - Roxanne
Roof Level - Top of the Rox

This place was a total shitshow in the best way.

How has nobody mentioned McFaddens yet? It was the wildest place you could go on a weekday. Who doesn’t love body shots and dancing on the bar with college kids on a Tuesday?
