https://buildabowtique.com/ Imagine a bow like the ones on this website on a little girl's head - covering about 50% of it
|
| I have two daughters and I don't own any bows at all. |
| Is it really a preppy thing? I thought JOjo Siwa made it pretty mainstream among white kids everywhere? |
| It’s weird. Growing up we’d occasionally play teams where h the girls wore bows in their hair and we’d be super motivated to kick the s*** out of them. We always did. |
Little girl looks unhappy. Do you think it's because her mom made her wear the bow? |
|
God, I also hate these. I feel like they're seen most often on tiny babies because GOD FORBID it not be immediately apparent that your baby is a GIRL!
|
I hate them on babies because there are zero babies on the planet that like sh*t on their heads like that. At no point is it okay to make your baby/child uncomfortable for the sake of cutesy gender roles. Older kids bother me less because they either like them (whether they're conditioned to like them is another story) or I can imagine mom going through a bribing negotiation process to get the kid to wear it. If the kid is old enough to fight back and mom wants to die on that hill, then power to her. But save the poor innocent babies, for the love of God. |
| For all you bow lovers, they’re all wrong. just Google Jojo Silwa. Reality check. |
|
My mom dressed me in formal, frilly clothing as a kid and I always had ribbon bows or bow barrettes in my hair. They were always slipping and my hair would get in the way. It sucked to always be worried about getting dirty or disheveled.
If I had some play clothes, maybe I'd like dressing up more. lol |
| Lol’d at the mention of “bowheads.” My 20-something DMV daughters also used to that term. It was not complimentary. |
| Ok am I the only one who read this too quick and thought it said “ giant BROWS” ? Like big bushy eyebrows ? Ugh, I need more coffee... |
|
I haven’t bothered reading this thread but presumably someone shared something about JoJo Siwa.

The bigger the bow, the better the mama.
I helped at preschool photo day once and the moms were INSANE about making sure their daughter's bow was situated in the hair perfectly. I felt like I was watching a satire. -mom of two daughters, zero bows |
Yeah I did earlier. I don't think it's really this preppy/frilly thing anymore. JoJo Siwa has made it really mainstream, you can buy big bows everywhere now. |
It's certainly not exclusive to preppies. A certain segment of Orthodox Jews loves giant bows mounted on headbands.
