Is it tacky to grow corn in the front yard?

Anonymous
eh, does anyone else have corn or other produce growing on their front lawns? If not it's probably - Tacky. And in case it comes up, having a rooster in your yard would be - Annoying.

What does "tacky" imply, and why are people on this forum so worried about it?

Okra is a gorgeous plant -- the flowers look like hibiscus, great foliage too. And corn is just another ornamental grass, so no big deal there either.

Yes!
I'm the poster growing okra in the front yard. The variety I put there is called 'Jing's Orange'. It has lipstick-red stalks and pods, with buttery yellow flowers and is an absolute show stopper.
