Is it tacky to grow corn in the front yard?

Note to self: go out and plant corn in the front yard this weekend. It's a little late, but maybe it will still work.

No it's not tacky! A green chemical lawn belong in the days of sun beds. Corn is a gorgeous plant. I am going to plant three sisters in my front yard this summer! I'm sure some old school neighbors will be annoyed until I give them some free produce. Tacky is white pvc fence and plastic lawn furniture. All plants enchnce a property if cared for.

Not tacky at all. Not efficient, but not tacky. Corn needs space and cross pollination, most front yards are simply not big enough to make it worthwhile.

Trust me! I've tried it in my Bethesda front yard!

I'm growing okra in the front yard this year.

And gas. And chemicals.

Corn does not pollinate well with so few plants. You will not get much production if any from that planting.

If you are in a busy area, there's a good chance people will swipe your corn before you harvest it... people swipe my tomatoes.

I grew corn once and we had a harvest of all 11 ears-

Go for it, OP. It's a free country. It's your yard and your corn.

However, if you did it in my neighborhood you'd just be attracting deer. That would bother me. (Unless all of mine migrated over to your yard.)

What does "tacky" imply, and why are people on this forum so worried about it?
