Which neighborhoods to avoid in NoVa?

I think this post is mean spirited. People's homes are in the neighborhoods that others say "should be avoided". Lame post- really looking to be nasty.

Who are you weirdoes who are obsessed with hating where other people live? Where do you freaks live so I can make sure to steer clear.

It's so small there is only one high school, but make sure you are in the city boundaries. The rest of Falls Church (referred to as just "Falls Church") is within Fairfax County and the schools are good, but not as good.

Your guide to falls church

Good

22046 (falls church city)
22046 (fairfax county mclean)
22043 (fairfax county either marshall or mclean)

not so good

22042 (falls church high)
22044 (stuart, could be considered good because parts are lake barcroft which is a lake area but the schools are not good)
22041 (stuart)

This is a good guide.

You could rent a house in Pimmit Hills, the most infamous neighborhood on DCUMs. I live in PH and love it. Very convenient to Arlington too. I can take Old Dominion Road from downtown McLean to Glebe Rd. There's other routes too. Should be a very easy commute, maybe 20 minutes in rush hour I am guessing more or less.

Who is this Pimmit Hills lady weighing in on "not so good" areas in Falls Church?

Maybe her neighborhood is "infamous" because it's full of shacks and garish McMansions, yet the people still try to be snobby.

And yet better schools than 22041-2-4, go figure!

plus infinity.

You should not make fun of where people live. Look inside and ask yourself if you would actually say this to someone personally. Then, think about the things that you are most ashamed of doing. Most people will note that it was the times when they were gratuitously cruel.

Good god. I wouldn't say there are any bad neighborhoods in Northern VA. Maybe parts of Woodbridge but that's it. Every neighborhood that my friends turn up their noses about is middle class everywhere else in the US.

Its very clear at this point that the PH hater can NOT afford PH.

PH is not that different than any other close in neighborhood. You have the original old houses, some with add ons, and you have the new houses, which are going to be hated by the old house owners.

PH really is representative of the D.C. area, like it or not.

If you know anything about real estate, and you have money to invest, you would be stupid not to buy there.

Dumbest post yet. Still trying to get people to buy there? Hahahahahahaha.

And far crappier houses.

Post houses that 600K buys you in PH, then in 22041, 22042 and 22044, and see what people are willing to put up with to live in PH. Do you figure they are all insane?

McLean (bad people)

We know people in a great expensive home in Nova with the worst neighbors (the cops are routinely there or staked out - to arrest a resident, not to protect anyone). It's more about your immediate neighbors than anything else.

And Mclean is amazing. Come see a little league game this season - you'll see a lot of nice people and families at one of their favorite places.

Are the people in 22041, 22042 or 22044 buying the 600K houses insane? Did they identify Pimmit Hills as a "not so good" area in Falls Church before the PH poster started weighing in on why their neighborhoods were "not so good" or how PH "beats" them?

It's a bit late to curl up into a tiny little defensive ball. Pimmit Hills is probably one of the last places in NoVa where people have a right to be snobs.

I am not sure what the motivation of 22041/2/4 buyers is. Perhaps they don't have school-aged children, are prepared to pay for private, do not care about access to metro, or consider these schools acceptable. In any event, the motivation of people buying nicer houses is on its face. You haven't answered the question: why do you think people buy in PH when the same amount of money could buy more house or a nicer house in 22041/2/44?
