He is a year younger than his classmates, as such, would he be at a disadvantage while he is being evaluated for FUTURA? In your opinion, would you think that younger kids can cope with FUTURA work as well as homeschool assignments as well. I understand that answers to some of these questions may depend on a child's personality and aptitude. I do not know what to think of DS. At school, he is easily distracted and at times appears to be a dreamer. His grades at school reflect the same - in some assignments he shows results beyond his years. In other assignments, you can easily make out that he wanted to do anything except work on that.
To answer your first question, the 2 other evaluation criteria are
1. Classroom teacher recommendation
2. SEARCH work
Since your son is already in the pool, he will have to meet one of the two above criteria to get admitted to FUTURA.
Regarding age, I am not sure but I do not think that should matter. For FUTURA, it's once a week pullout program so students are expected to make up any missed work from their base school.
