The funny thing is that my kid also crossed Amherst off of her list after visiting and applied to a list which looks very similar to yours. But, I suspect the poster has an agenda given the additional editorializing.

My kid, who is heading to Swat next yr, crossed Williams off after a visit. Too isolated for DC (I loved it).

+1 But DC didn't love Swat either, preferred Amherst. Applied ED and is there now.

Ha, yes. The only way to determine if a kid loves a given school's vibe is to visit and see for themselves.
