I mean, there are a couple bars. And Whitmans is open til 1am. But I think most socializing is in the houses

My MIL lives in Amherst. What bars are open til 2am? The one on the corner by the stop and shop but that's a UMass bar and you'd have to drive over there.

I specified "restaurants open until 2:00 AM." Antonio's, Royal Chicken and Kebab, Taqueria del Pueblo, and DP Dough are walkable from AC campus and open that late, and McDonald's and Domino's also deliver that late.

only because you're being a pill

I wouldn't consider dominos, dp dough, or Antonio's restaurants. None have seating except for the counter at Antonio's . Royal Chicken has one table I think. They used to be a food truck. It's all fine for delivery, but you were saying these other campuses dont have this and they literally all do. They have DP Dough and domino's specifically, those are chains. Next you'll be telling us about Insomnia cookies. Taqueria del Pueblo isn't open til 2am. They close at like 8pm, 11pm maybe on weekends.

My bad, looks like Taqueria del Pueblo changed their hours. They used to be open until 2 AM on weekends.

I was comparing Amherst to Williamstown. Amherst has more late night options than Williamstown does. I'm pretty sure that's an objective fact.
Also, you have no idea what you're talking about w.r.t. Royal Chicken; they have 5 tables (two long tables in the front, two long tables in the back, and a circle table in the back) and were never a food truck, as they opened as an original restaurant in fall 2023 (I was there). You're probably mixing it up with the Halal Cart or Only Kebab, which are completely different. Speaking of which, Only Kebab is also open until 2:00 AM.

kid 1 graduated from Amherst last year. kid 2 current williams studnet. maybe Pomona for kid 3?

Amherst has more late night local food options in the community - although some close earlier than advertised if they're slow. Nothing on campus. Williams has on campus dining til 1am 7 nights a week. on meal plan. with quesadillas, burgers, etc. Not much food in Williamstown after 10pm.

Both have very similar delivery options. Amherst college from local and Williams from mostly North Adams, which is just down the road and they all deliver.

I don't have kids who regularly eat at midnight. Not sure this is a major issue for most.

What’s more important is that Williams is much better than Amherst

What is important is understanding that your incessant shilling carries no weight.

There are a dozen SLACs which are basically indistinguishable from one and other and uniformly excellent. All three of the SLACs in this thread are in this group. Just like the T20 universities' virtually all differences in their rankings can be attributed to endowment size; there are zero qualitative or substantive differences other than endowment size.

Williams is indeed much better than Amherst...at driving kids insane in the wilderness

With fewer applications and a higher acceptance rate?

Amherst has access to UMass for grad classes

This has already been discussed that this “resource” is mostly unused.

Also it take a bit of work for an undergrad at Umass to take a graduate course, let alone a student at another institution.

also why not just go to UMASS for a lot less money if that's what you wanted?

Nope, my two kids took advantage of it.

That didn’t change the prior sentence any. No one cares about your anecdote.

Our kid applied to Williams and Pomona, didn’t even consider Amherst after our tour. Just a very boring place and the architecture is so bad. The math department looked to be housed in some horror house that was no where comparable to Pomona or Williams.
