2 Hour Delay Monday February 9th?

The intersection at West Moreland and Kirby is frightening under normal conditions but the snow mountains 🏔️ are even more treacherous.

She won’t care until someone gets seriously injured or killed.

So you just want schools closed indefinitely?

Don’t make me a straw man. It’s no fun conversing with someone who argues with logical fallacies.

There was never a delay for cold, just delays with the plowing of the antarctic ice shelf.

Our coldest day of the winter was yesterday, Feb 7th, when there was an Extreme Cold alert. And yet people were out and about doing their usual errands and activities. Monday is going to be a "normal" cold. Everything is plowed.

There is absolutely not reason to delay anything.

everything is plowed?

cars still can't get out of iced spots.

lanes are still missing along 50.

not every sidewalk is cleared.

there are still spots to work on.

None of the issues you’ve identified would be resolved through a 2-hour delayed opening. Are you advocating for a 3-week closure?

I heard there's a 15 minute delay.

You’ve identified issues that won’t be resolved for weeks. Not a straw man

Drive your child to school. Don’t put your child in a dangerous situation.

đź’Ż. The county did a terrible job clearing the crosswalks.

There are still lots of dangerous roads and intersections due to unmelted and un-removed ice piles. Roads down to 1 lane from 2 or 3. Acting as if that's changes and it's safe for students in the dark at 6:30 am is ridiculous. I pray drivers and kids will be super attentive, but am worried.

Parents should drive or walk with their kids if they are worried. Back to school we go.

There is just no winning, is there? If there had a been a delay announced, every post would have decried Reid and FCPS for being soft and whiny and not wanting kids in school. Now that school is on time, Reid and FCPS are heartless and don’t care about kids freezing to death.

If the schools can’t even provide lockers for everyone it just encourages kids to not dress warmly enough because they don’t want to carry coats around all day.

I don’t think the county is responsible for clearing crosswalks.

Monday is below freezing while Tuesday-Friday is warmer for melt to begin.

The sidewalks are thick slabs of ice, rock hard. The intersections are mountains of giant ice boulders.
