The FAA is always hiring Air Traffic Controllers. They are severely understaffed.

It's good pay, no college degree required, paid training.

It's also crazy hours (many facilities operate 24/7/365), high stress, zero flexibility, often has mandatory overtime because they are so understaffed.

Early retirement is optional. The job is no more stressful than many others which involve public safety, and nobody is compelled to do that kind of work if they don't find it attractive. But feel free to project your limited values on others who are quite happy to work harder than you evidently want to, in return for roles which are meaningful and impactful, and for reasonable compensation and benefits. Not everyone aspires to nothing more demanding than driving for Uber.

My friend in Bethesda call me up she was laid off. She wants 100 percent renote, no OT, flex she can go to bus stop, do chores go to kids things at school, in summer have time make meals. She is ok hybrid two days a week as long as within 10 minutes of her house. She want 150base and a 40k bonus with a months vacation action. She is out of work 9 months.

I had a job in McLean in person but she was like no way driving to VA or in person s no thanks.

NYT did a cool reel this week about the jobs report and the apparent job growth. If i remember correctly it revealed that we lost jobs in every sector but healthcare/companionship -- where jobs were added. And the "companionship" tag on there is telling. It includes in the healthcare category the folks with zero healthcare training who are getting paid minimum wage to sit at home with elderly people who can't take care of themselves.

So if you want a job -- apply for that one. Very, very easy to get hired. Don't expect more than minimum and don't expect benefits.

That’s weird. We’re adding jobs across the spectrum in my sector of manufacturing. Not just my company but the whole ecosystem.

I don't know your sector but if people have a family they can't support a family on $18 and hour. Often also those types of jobs do not guarantee 40 hours a week. Some less than 20.
