You can definitely get accepted still. I think they only send a likely letter to the very top applicants. |
| Drinking! I cannot wait for decision day. |
+1 And ageist. It's meant to denigrate older white women. Thank you for saying something. |
People usually think of their HOA president as a Karen. I don't think it refers to race, or sex, or age. It could be a 22 year old young URM male. Karen is entitled, always tries to control situations that don't involve them. Rude as fuxx. |
+1 It’s not racist. |
Sipping my wine now. I just want it to be over. I have so many things on hold while we wait to hear next week (hopefully!!). If kid gets in we are going on a bunch of trips over break. If not, back to the drawing board. This is my 2nd kid. I’m so over all of this sh@t. lol |
Yes, accepted to SLC with a scholarship and applied EA 11/1. |
Is it sexist? Or, alternately, is it sexist to assume “Karen” is a female? |
Congrats! |
+1000 4th kid. I feel your pain. |
Oh Wow! The 2nd is my last one. I couldn’t imagine doing this 2 more times. Good luck to both of us ! |
| This is our first crack at the insanity. It is not 1994 anymore. What is a likely letter? Is this a deferral? I thought those were only given to athletes. |
Certain Ivies and a handful of other schools send them to the top 2-3% of applicants a few weeks or a month before decisions come out. It is to make the student feel special and not let them fall in love with other schools that have earlier release dates. They are wooing your kid. It basically says, “We think you are amazing. Your application is one of the top we have seen this year. We are going to offer you admission in a few weeks.” |

As to UVA:
- anyone know WHEN they will announce?? (website only says “before the 15th” or something). |
DeanJ posted on Instagram today that they don’t know the exact date yet. |
