ICE has been corrupt since it's inception. There is nothing heroic about the United States equivalent of the SS.

This. And I find Op fascinating. Sorta defending what ICE is doing, while making it very clear clear that HE wasn’t really ICE and didn’t do things like that and HIS work was on the up and up and made the US safer. He wants to make sure we all know he isn’t the portion of ICE people hate, but also refuses to denounce what ICE is doing. Very both sides/ but I was a “good” SS member.

Well, I’m wondering how the mission of the agency and the training have changed over time —and especially with this current administration.

Do you feel the government was having you do things that were not your mission?

Did you say this stuff about Obama when he gave Tom Homan a presidential medal? If not, shut up.

I guess Obama is Hitler by your standards too, huh?

Wackos like you are why Trump won the election. Dems need to jettison people like you immediately and bring the party back to what it was during Obama’s tenure.

Where was your moral outrage at Obama when he was the Deporter in Chief? How do you sleep at night being such a craven, soulless political opportunist who pretends to care about people only when it’s politically expedient? Serious question.

He gave Tom Homan a presidential medal, locked kids in cages, and was known as the Deporter in Chief by civil rights groups.

Do your research.

DP - it is a bit different bc Obama’s numbers were more due to turning people away at the border. He like others before him looked the other way when it came to people who managed to already get here.

I ask that as someone who is a Fed not being forced out, but is in the process of resigning because I will not sign documents that lie or misrepresent to the Coirt, as the Trump Admin says I must. So, I know something about having to ask yourself that question.

The OP said he retired 10 years ago.

Yeah, I was a federal law clerk for 4 years that included that time period. DHS was put together in a reactive way by people without good motives after 9/11. It started as a problematic agency. It has become progressively more so. iCE — also a deeply problematic law enforcement agency that held itself above the law and due process— even those portions that didn’t apply to it. Something about the switch from INS to ICE really brought out the ugliest parts of the agents. The careless, random, IDGAF due process violations even before Trump came down his elevator were very blatant. People just didn’t care because UMC Americans never interacted with them. But this isn’t some new thing. It’s. Culture that’s been there from the start (when they were violating the rights of Muslims, instead of Hispanics).

Would you say that a lot of these posters on here don’t even care about immigrants and only pretend to care about them now because Trump is in power? Tell us how Tom Homan and ICE acted when Obama gave Homan a presidential medal.

Obama may have handed Homan the award but he was nominated by his buddy John Torres (another legacy INS fanatic)

I happen to be a new and had family members in concentration camps and were resistance fighters. I was hired by US Customs (which had been in existence since 1789) and adopted into ICE when it was formed in 2003 after 9/11. I continued to work mostly legacy-Customs type cases. I only dabbled in immigration work when I handled gangs and war crimes.

I have no problem arresting and deporting illegal aliens who are criminals. Although I don’t think arresting non-criminal aliens should be a priority and is a good use of resources, I don’t ethically/morally have an issue with it. I do NOT agree with the tactics and strategy of this current administration. Nor did I agree with the open border policies of previous administrations.

So Obama was known as the deporter in chief. Why doesn’t the current gov use his “playbook” to obtain similar results?

Obama secured the southern boarder of Mexico so they didn't even make it to the US boarder.

He also instituted ICE agent who sat with major crimes in certain jurisdiction so when they were released by the courts ICE could immediately pick up criminals and deport them instead of crying like a baby because local jurisdictions would not illegally hold them.

Also, if there is no immigration issue the R's have nothing to complain about... they created this problem to pretend to fix it.

What they are doing is horrible and will not fix anything, is not getting rid of criminals and will only backfire in the end.

What's horrible is hobbling CBP and INS for 4 years and turning them into baby sitters so you could push 5K to 10K strangers across the border every day to fulfill your progressive agenda.

Thanks for your response. Do sanctuary cities no longer allow ICE agents to sit with / obtain cooperation from major crimes in these jurisdictions, or is that a separate issue?

Do the ICE at Dulles rotate or is that a specific division?
