Why are so many Americans on disability?

The obesity crisis quickly becomes an SES and parenting issue.

Why not first ask why Americans are the sickest people in the world?

Why has our food supply been poisoned?

Profit. Greed. It's capitalism run amok.

No, I think it’s more that lobbyists are allowed to wine and dine our politicians who vote for laws in favor Blackrock corporations, including pharmaceutical manufacturers.

When politicians are nice and drunk, the place swoons with underaged girls. It’s the oldest trick in Washington: honey pot blackmail. Jeffery Epstein was king. But it didn’t go away at all.

Term limits would certainly put a dent in the scheme.

Because it’s free money that never stops.

Because they get injured at work, run out of money trying to pay medical bills, and are then fired by their job when they aren't 100% anymore.

There is no Universal Health Care in the US, and employers have the upper hand AND control of your health insurance.

Then they have a gap in employment and no one will hire them.

You can always negotiate a cash pay uninsured price. Illegals do it all the time and many places post that price in the waiting room.

What would change with govt level health insurance?

They wouldn’t be disabled and would choose find a suitable job in less than a years time instead?

In what job does a year off hurt things? Like a senior white collar leadership role they had to fill? Or you lost all your clients? Or you have a labor wage plug & play job and are just fine?

That’s not quite true. SSD is so
sometimes clawed back, if person works too much or their disability is dropped from approved list (like AIDS). Receiving a letter saying you owe $40,000 due immediately without warning is terrifying.

Getting SSD is hard, and takes many years in almost all instances. The only patient I knew in the past few years who got disability with one years time was recently blinded with severe neuropathy in fingers so could not read braille. The others who applied were denied or waiting and in 3rd year of waiting. I knew of two who faced clawbacks after they worked a few too many hours.

Same reason "support animal" has you sitting next to a coyote in the airplane.

Stupid liberal policies.

What makes you think that? Do you have specific examples? I have heard that it is difficult, but maybe what I heard was wrong.
