She sucks but she isn't MAGA. Just stop. |

Those restaurants in those states aren't competing with tons of places across the river or down the road. There is no comparison. I-82 was a solution in search of a problem. Most servers were against it - it was the prog left that pushed this nonsense. |
The notion that restaurants in downtown DC are competing with those in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Bethesda, and Silver Spring is not a serious argument. As a restaurant patron, I will take my business to whichever establishments can be transparent about this much I’m expected to pay. Any menu with prices including tips and taxes will win me over any time. But DC restauranteurs by and large went the other way and used I-82 as an excuse to engage in wanton deception, introducing all manner of junk fees that pissed off loyal customers. Not a tear will be shed for the loss of any restaurants owned and run by dorks that engage in this crap. |
| I think a lot of people don't have the extra money for eating out and are tightening their belts with insurance doubling over the past three years and groceries, dry cleaning, coffee shops, and schools almost everything inflated they can't afford to go out. |

To ask restaurant owners to essentially double their payrolls while all of their other costs were skyrocketing is a recipe for what we have now. The people who pushed for this are deeply unserious people -- entirely white, entirely privileged, blind to that privilege -- who have done far more harm than good for the people whose lives they allegedly are trying to improve.

| I’d be all for paying everyone at least minimum wage - and then I don’t need to tip anymore. Burt his doing both nonsense is crazy. |
| Bowser is a total MAGA ! |
She's not MAGA, but she plays one on TV! At least for the next 3.5 years... Not great, but clearly she's trying to stay in the King's good graces. But not sure he actually rewards loyalty and he is already doing stuff to punish DC. Could he go out of his way to punish DC more, probably. |
Yes, they are competing. People get used to a certain price for things and if they cross the river and something is 30% higher, behavior will change. You clearly have no idea how the economics of a restaurant (or any business) works. They are all acting rationally given the stupid law. |

Last year 50 restaurants closed because of this. This year, 70 more have closed and its only July.
Think about all the jobs loses too. |
| DC is looking like a ghost town. We were in Georgetown Friday evening and no one was on the street. I know people are at the beach but no one walking around. |
Sleepy Gtown is a ghost town. It's not 1995 anymore. |

Few people spend money on alcohol now. There's not much money to be made with food.
We used to have 5 servers working a brunch shift. Now we need 7 and all get paid $10+ tips. They horse around, disappear, eat 30 minutes straight and the some, check their phones at all times, take 15 minute bathroom breaks, zone out, argue over everything, sit down to rest after 20 minutes on their feet. This endless hiring, training, disappearing, and firing costs a lot time and money. One resume out of 10 is worth a look. This was not the case from 1997-2022. Pot heads are gone replaced by ADHD. |

Thank god for Bowser.
She’s the only person keeping DC out of federal hands. |
