| I know a Yale legacy that picked another SLAC over Yale. Not everyone buys in to the brand. |
This happens not infrequently. Only on DCUM would you find posters who are horrified! |

If I wanted to discuss, say, political theory with a college student, I'd look to a school like Swarthmore.
Congratulations on your daughter's decision! I wish her the best of luck at Swat! |
A friend of mine went to Swarthmore for undergrad and now is a well-known Professor at a top Ivy. They thrived there. Congrats on your child! |
| Congratulations! |
| Congratulations. You handled the process well and importantly had your child make the decision. She will be very happy at Swarthmore. |
| Thank you for all the well wishes. She’s excited and not torn at all anymore. We went to dinner to celebrate tonight and I ordered her some Swat swag. |
| Swat alum here who had a single every year after freshman year! My sister was at an ivy at the same time and we both had wonderful experiences. She has two great choices - good luck. |
Congrats! DD picked Swat over a couple Ivies last year. |
| Yale. No reason to even think about this twice. |
Gosh you're limited. |
My DC picked a SLAC over Yale even though they are a legacy - with my full encouragement. Fit matters. |
Let’s be real. People who give such limited thought to such decisions don’t get into Yale or Swarthmore. Anyhow, if you bothered to read any of the last few posts you would have seen that OP’s kid already chose Swat. (FWIW, preferring Yale is perfectly reasonable; but categorically doing so without nuance or actual insight warrants at least a little mockery.) |
Bingo |
Yes, well said. |
