She decided on Swarthmore! We are all happy with the decision and looking forward to next fall. Thanks for the great input on this thread. It was really helpful and I shared many points with her.

Thanks for sharing! I was Team Yale, but I'm very happy for you and your daughter. Wishing her all the best and hope she has a wonderful time at Swarthmore!

+1000 It's refreshing, honestly.

My DD just graduated from Swat. Congratulations! She will love her classes and her professors will know her. For instance, it is very common for professors to take a group of students to dinner, or on field trips to museums or plays in Philly or New York.

Congrats!! I'm headed off to my Swarthmore reunion at the end of the month, and I have the fondest memories of my time there. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and professors, the updated campus, and revisiting favorite haunts. It's truly a special, special place. The college is incredibly beautiful and intellectually vibrant with a deeply caring and committed community.

Yale is so not ugly.

It is to me. Got a problem with that? Like what could you possibly want other than to pick some argument about something that won't help OP.

Triggered much? I don't see how your opinion that Yale is ugly could possibly help OP, but okaaay.

The only mistake would be listening to people like you that put name recognition over actual fit. Every top 20 LAC has dozens of students that picked their school over an Ivy+. They have far more who know they had the stats, grades, and ECs to be a competitive applicant to an Ivy+ but didn’t bother applying cause they knew they wanted profs who put their education ahead of grad students or research. This isn’t a knock on those schools, it’s a knock on people like you that think bigger name equals better education. For some top students universities are absolutely the way to go, for other top students LACs are.

Now, back off and let OP celebrate their child’s amazing result.

So yes, you wanted to pick a fight. Thanks for confirming.
