your elderly parent married to someone in their 60s loves calls from 3 kids daily?

my mother loves calls and visits but she lives alone and is very dependent on my sister and me

My mother is older than Hackman and I don’t call her every day or every week. She’s busy and so am I. Get over your judgmental small minded selves.

So she could die, and you wouldn't know for a week?

DP, but so what? Mom is still dead regardless of whether you know the minute after it happens or a month later.

We don’t know whether he died instantly or died of dehydration after lying there for a few days, or similar.

That's weird. Not going to win any good daughter awards, that's for sure.

Thanks for confirming that your weekly/daily check ins with your beloved parents are 100% performative.

Not at all. But I can tell you wouldn't understand and don't have close feelings for a parent.

Randy Quaid (Cousin Eddie from Natl Lampoon) thinks Gene was murdered. He is posting all about it on X.

But the dog and wife died too. All at the same time?

They ruled out monoxide and nat gas.

Poisoned? On purpose? And dog happened to eat it too?

It sounds like the dog was crated. If you crate a dog for 9 days they will die of dehydration.

He is a conspiracy theorist nutter. This is from 2021 but it’s full of receipts.

Agree the most likely explanation is she died suddenly and he fell shortly after and couldn't get back up. Very, very sad.

I find it strange too. My parents are not famous or wealthy, but they have a home aid come in every day for 8 hours.

+1 It's why loving relatives check on their elderly family members often.

What do we know about the wife? Was she his main caregiver with no help? Double suicide or homicide and a suicide? Very strange.

Sounds like she was the main caregiver with no help. Since no family has stepped up to make a statement, it sounds like they were quite isolated.

Reading between the lines in the family statement, his children didn't mention anything about their step mother. They likely didn't have much of a relationship with her, and thus, especially if he had dementia or some other decline in mental functioning, talking with him on the phone might have been difficult.

I'm very paranoid about something happening to me and the dog being left unattended for days before someone realizes something is amiss. I'm more worried about the dog than myself.

+2 check on any aged family members especially if they live alone, because something could happen at any age.

And I can tell that your kids won’t be checking in on you in your dotage. Maybe if you dangle money at them… but I still doubt it.
