New branding, but not heavy on the details beyond that. Haven't checked out the updated website at this point.

Host of speakers including CEO of US Club Soccer.

Stay tuned, I guess?

Does anyone care about the CEO of US Club Soccer?

MC the CEO of US CLUB SOCCER is the worst - biggest ego in youth soccer.

USCS=RU=ECNL

MC does not equal RU and ECNL. JH = RU and ECNL

Yeah - it was a whole lot of hype for not a lot of action. Wouldn't go as far as embarrassing because it definitely is a pretty big change in RVA, but doesn't really move the needle outside of that area.

Agree big new locally in RVA but not impactful elsewhere. https://richmondbizsense.com/2025/01/22/richmond-strikers-richmond-kickers-youth-merge-to-form-united-soccer-club/

I believe the USL academy and player pathway to the USL pro team are more important to growing talent than combining ECNL RL and rec teams. Maybe combining orgs furthers that initiative in some way. Also, would be interesting to see if/how the Inter academy is expanded.

It moves the needle everywhere. Egos start to go to the side and everyone wants to keep up. Next year in RL will be telling. If this new RU team rolls through it then everyone will be changing.

Does anyone besides blood really care about RL? That’s like caring about high school soccer championships. If this improves the NL team I guess it would be considered a win.

From my perspective, yeah, the additional RL team isn't earth shattering, but from what I understand, the plan is to develop that group in order to move into NL eventually. For players currently in HS at RU, not sure this merger is really going to do a ton directly to change what they are already doing, but in the long run, it's a good thing. Increased resources, focus and opportunities, especially on the boys side with their USL-A team and the USL-1 mens side. Hopefully, on the girls side, the involvement with the USL-W squad continues to grow - maybe there is a USL Super League team if that venture proves to be a viable women's pro soccer option.

Does this mean RU now have two ECNL National now or how many ECNL RL did they get?

Nope. Continue with single NL level team. Have -RL Blue team that is a combined group from Strikers and Kickers. -RL Red which is comprised of Kickers players and -RL Orange which is comprised of Strikers players. Long term goal to get the -RL Blue squad up into the NL league, but not immediately.

Plus they will still have their other teams participating in their respective leagues, but now all under the Richmond United brand. This flows all the way down thru the rec programs as well.

Think that is how is right based on what I read.

Does ECNL allow a club to have 2 NL teams?

Yes. Most the NC teams in the MidAtlantic have two squads.
