Per some posters, it is a "tradition"? Why O' why?

School rivalries at their finest.

Just cancel the games if the kids cannot behave or don't let spectators.

Do we know yet if it was spectators instigating or participating in Friday's "fight?" Could they have been non spectator students who were in the area if this was at the shopping plaza? Can anyone confirm? Few posters up thread have asked if this has been confirmed and where "fight" took place - school grounds during game, after game or off campus?

Folks have identified the neighborhood plaza, which was not even right on top of the football stadium.

Trying again: agree completely with this poster

I don't know. The video is of two boys fighting, totally unclear whether either or both of them go to BCC or WJ. The police were literally right on top of the situation and it was broken up in under a minute.

Teens fighting isn't great, but this does not feel like a four alarm fire to me. Certainly nothing like what happened after last year's game, and maybe that demonstrates that whatever steps have already been taken are starting to work.

Do you think it is breaking news every time a teen throws a punch? This was dealt with before it escalated to something akin to the awful occurrence last year.

Given that it's circulating widely on social media (it has over 56,000 views on Twitter alone), yes, I do think they should address it.

Why should they address 2 boys fighting outside of school grounds? Even if it was in school grounds, unless it’s a brawl or weapons involved, there's no need to send out a communiqué about two knuckle heads releasing steams. If that was the case, MCPS would have to send emails/communications every single damn day and multiple times a day, because at any given school in MCPS and at any given time, there's some kind of confrontation going on.

This absolutely.
Considering what happened last year, the news media would have been all over it if it was something newsworthy.

When videos of fights in the community surrounding Paint Branch High School circulated on social media, the principal put out a community letter to address that and reminded students of their duty and obligation to conduct themselves according to the Code of Conduct while they were out in the community. Why is this different?

Do we even know who was fighting in this video?

Where can one find a listing of which MCPS football teams are playing at home on Fridays? With recent and past fighting after games, trying to avoid the neighborhoods of the home team. Is G square ok to visit for shopping today?

No, we do not. I'm starting to think there's one OP determined to escalate every single incident of teen dumbassery to a Big Societal Issue even when it's just two punks in a 15 second fight where neither landed a punch.

Put these kids AND their parents in jail. Not fighting is what separates humans from animals. If you can’t teach your children the basics of being a human, you’ve failed as a human. If you’re reading this and your child has ever physically purposefully hurt another person, you’re a failure as a parent. Most people have never physically fought in public. It’s NOT normal no matter what lies you’re telling yourself otherwise.

It’s not “teen dumbassery,” it’s the difference between right and wrong. If your teen knows how to use the toilet, they know not to hurt another person. If you won’t teach your kid this lesson and your kid hurts my kid, then I’ll sue you and when your wages are garnished you’ll wish you raised your kid right.

You should basically avoid g square between 11-12 and 2:30-3:30 every day just because of the crowds of teens which make for long lines at the subway, chipotle, pizza pace and giant. (Although giant limits how many teens can enter.)

Many work during those hours you listed above, and are not available to shop nor are those dinner hours.
