I have a friend in Missouri who knew she would be giving birth to a stillborn baby more than a week ago. A very much wanted baby. Because of Missouri’s horrific laws, they had to wait until my friend’s life was sufficiently in danger before they were allowed to medically proceed, even though the baby’s chance of life was zero.

They waited so long and her mirror syndrome got so bad that a C-section was now the only option, instead of induced labor. C-sections are difficult and risky, and she ended up needing a BLOOD TRANSFUSION as well. If she had died, her 3yo boy would have been motherless.

“Pro-life” my arse. “Pro-life,” no. Anti-woman. That’s all.

Try a Muslim country if you want pro-woman.

That’s a serious response? Some Muslim countries are worse?

I am from a country that's over 90% Muslim. We don't have specific abortion laws and while the practice is illegal, everyone just turns a blind eye and pretend like it never happened. Women are not obliged to cover up. While it's true we are a conservative society and men enjoy higher positions in all aspects of life, surprisingly the younger generation of women is breaking all kind of taboo such as choice in spouse, pre marital sex, forgoing marriage, majoring in male dominated majors etc without much pushback not sure why. But it's a good step in the right direction. My sister is a 30 years old surgeon she has a bf and not getting much criticism. I have to admit I am very surprised and puzzled by how a country so liberal and open minded goes as far as making abortion a crime in some states.

Late to the party here. I'm a left leaning centrist who has generally voted democratic for as long as I can remember. I can say that it would be VERY hard for me to vote for Kamala. Based solely on her actions, she was ranked as the most liberal senator just five years ago. And it looks like she's leaning toward Buttigieg, who is similarly liberal. Such an administration would almost certainly focus its energies on social change and cause a myriad of problems while more pressing existential issues fall to the wayside. I don't want to vote for Trump, but it's like the dems have lost their minds in their echo chamber and are coercing me to do so. Why can't they come up with someone better?

That’s your best? That’s your care for women? “It could be worse?” How pathetic.

Should someone be tolerant of someone else’s intolerance? Why should I be tolerant of someone who wants, either actively or indirectly, to take rights away from people I care about?

I’m sure I’m neighbors or casual friends with people like you, but to be comfortable having a close relationship with someone who is so callous about the rights of others? Nope. Not for me.

- Educated, successful, wealthy woman who is the child of a legal immigrant. I have a lot of friends that would be significantly disadvantaged if the policies promoted by Trump and his ilk would become law.

Would you mind expanding on this a bit?

Nope. You do the work.

Hahahaha. Ok. So you’re using hyperbole and then can’t actually back it up. Not surprising.

DP. To start, every woman in the US. Every person who interacts with the government in some way. Every disenfranchised voter. And the list goes on.

How? How are they impacted? Be specific please.
I interact with the government. How will I be impacted? I’m a woman. How will I be impacted?

Each person has his/her own beliefs and perspectives. Very often, people don’t agree with every stance a candidate takes. So, compromise is made. To dehumanize and insult someone simply because they vote differently than you says more about yourself than others, left or right.

This needs to be a sticky.

But it’s okay for a political candidate to dehumanize and insult people?

It’s never ok for anyone to do it. And let’s be honest - all politicians do it at some point or another. If you don’t admit that you’re clearly living in an alternate universe.

It is because certain issues matter more to time and they feel both choices are bad.

What are the other issues more important to you? I’m being earnest. Because access to abortion, birth control and IFV are it for me. I can’t imagine what I’d trade for those

An actual crisis to me is a kid in the hospital or a cancer diagnosis, not my spouses political opinions. My husband is voting for trump. I don’t think it’s divorce worthy. I’m a registered dem and am excited for Kamala. He’s an independent and is generally anti establishment. We have two parties and that’s how our system is supposed to work. Seems like many people on both sides wish there was only one party.

Let’s stop being reactionary on both sides. It’s just politics. Let’s stop with the hitler comparisons and the fauci conspiracy theories and all the crazy drama that has somehow turned politics into a late night talk show industry. I realize this is DC but still…people get way too worked up. Just vote. Tell your daughters to vote if they can. You guys will cancel out his vote easily. Let’s go Kamala!

Whether you think trump or Kamala is going to ‘end democracy as we know it’ posting about it on Facebook or here is accomplishing what, exactly? Do you honestly think the internet will change hearts and minds? It’s just an excuse to spew insults at people you want to hate but don’t even know. It’s just a toxic escape loop that keeps you from interacting with real people in real life.

My DH and I often vote differently.

This thread is absolutely crazy.

Yes, it unequivocally does.

No, it unequivocally does not.
Look! We can both pretend like our opinion is fact.

If you think voting for Bush is remotely the same your delusional.
