Why can’t boys join Girl Scouts ?

Girls DO learn better without boys
Just a fact

Not in Girl Scouts, from what I found on google. Did I miss something?

Yea I saw on their sight it says "Girl Scouts provides a space just for girls, in which they are free to explore their interests and take the lead without the distractions or pressures that can be found in a coed environment" so why are girls allowed in BSA should it not be the same

Just because the BSA changed their practices doesn’t mean GS needs to. GS is doing just fine being girls only. BSA wasn’t doing so well being boys only.

If you want boy only spaces you can either join one of the BSA alternatives that sprung up every time BSA went a little more “woke” or you can start your own, should you not like the values in those groups. But the market may not support such an organization.

Alternatives: https://americanmom.com/motherhood/parenting/3-boy-scout-alternatives-for-conservative-boys/

BTW - I understand that some girls get a lot from Scouts of America, but I wish a third co-ed group had formed.

And I also think if you don’t like your local scout troop (Girl, Boy, Whatever) then you should do the work to start a troop that meets your expectations. Both organizations are flexible enough to allow that.

Why would someone resurrect a dead thread to make a nonsensical point? Like someone on the first page said, this is the same as being angry Burger King doesn’t have pancakes because ihop sells them.

I did not resurrect this thread. However, Jeff explained some months ago that the new advertising model used on DCUMAD has the side-effect of the site popping up more on Google searches.

This means random Google users will more often land on a thread here, and respond to it, even though the thread may be old.

But this is only a guess. Again, I didn’t resurrect this. I am op

I think the troup leaders who sexually abused the boys actually destroyed it more.

BSA wasn't forced to open to girls, they said they did it because families requested it so siblings could do the activities together. They also did it because their enrollment was down and getting in siblings and other girls could help enrollment.

BSA scout leaders wanted to extend their access to little girls.

It would hurt cookie sales, the sole reason for the existence of Girl Scouts.

BSA was going just great without girls but finally responded after years of insistence from organizations like NOW. After they finally give in to the demands, now they are subjected to mindless claims that they are "raiding" the GS for members. Let's face it, there are good reasons why BSA programming has become so popular with the families of girls. It allows all-girl experiences in the all-girl cub and scout groups without GS hyper-PC culture and required cookie sales. BSA girls are safer at BSA outings than near the adult drinking parties at GS glamping outings. Get real.

Hilarious.

BSA saw the writing on the wall and started courting girls' families because BSA was scared it would bleed menbership after all the scandals. Membership and money.

The nonsense about girls being "safer" on BSA outings is nuts. I was a GS leader at every level of troops, and my two friends were BS leaders. I know from experience that GSA's safety training and rules for outings, meetings, and especially for camping were vastly more detailed and stringent than what went on in Boy Scout meetings and camping trips. As for drinking mommies, I never saw it in 12 years as a leader and an adult staffer for camping. It's a fake image I've heard BSA boosters try to use against GS leaders before now, as the desperate BSA tries to badmouth GS to poach girls from GS.

That’s bullshit. Check your facts now. Lots of boys (who aren’t trans girls) are in Girl Scouts just like trans boys (who transitioned from girls) in Boy Scouts ( it’s important to get the terminology straight). Get over it! Boys can outperform girls in any activity once considered “female”!!!!

New rules require a parent to stay at meetings for the Cub Scouts. You no longer can just drop off your child. And the implication of this is that some siblings will need to join the meeting because of childcare. I know a single mom who had her younger daughter join the cub scouts because her old brother was a scout.

Yes but that was over 5 years ago. Boy Scouts could easily stand on their own again without female influence of any kind. As a gay man with 9 sons, I find it very offensive that girls can have their private space but my boys can’t have the same… boys need their privacy and room for development every bit as much, if not more than little girls.
