I think you're posting on the wrong thread. This thread is about a Fairfax County pilot program where 180 randomly-selected families who meet the qualifying criteria will get an additional $750 a month for 15 months to spend as they think best. |
Nope. The FF program doesn't have citizenship requirements. Dumb. |
And yet another failure to understand how privilege works from someone who thinks they pulled themselves up by the bootstraps by working hard (while the "hoodlums" were off having fun, lol). |
It’s called an individual tax ID number, commonly used by undocumented immigrants to complete an I-9 and pay taxes. Maybe try doing a Google search before posting so confidently— https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/18/us/undocumented-immigrants-taxes-cec/index.html |
Were you sick the day they taught history in history class? In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, tens of millions of immigrants arrived here, worked hard, and helped make this country the greatest in the world. Millions of those immigrants were poor, coming here with little more than what they could carry in suitcases and in hopes of making a better life. They faced the sorts of xenophobia that underlies your question. This country was built by immigrants. Let’s not forget it. I’ll share some material to give you the Cliff’s Notes version. https://www.loc.gov/classroom-materials/united-states-history-primary-source-timeline/progressive-era-to-new-era-1900-1929/immigrants-in-progressive-era/ https://www.history.com/topics/immigration/immigration-united-states-timeline |
They already live here. |
And somehow many managed to succeed without Medicaid, food stamps, rent controlled housing, other subsidized programs I'm forgetting and especially helicopter cash. |
Also without immigration laws, of course - for immigrants from Europe. All immigration from Europe was legal immigration, until 1924. If you were coming from Asia, it was different, of course; your labor was welcome, but you yourself were not. And if you were coming from Africa, you had no rights a white person was bound to respect, even if you were not legally the property of someone else. |
Were you stupid when someone pointed out to you that this country is completely different now from 1900 -1929 USA? Gas light much? What an idiotic post! |
It's only 180 families
|
I don't think you should talk about European immigration until you have lived it, which you clearly did not, or you would know about the blatant and tolerated and encouraged discrimination and waiting seven years to become a US citizen, and only then under certain conditions. If you did not speak the language, there was no job for you, period. Not like now. That was after they were treated like cattle and subjected to inhumane medical exams. GTFOH with your rhetoric. |

What a joke. Next time before posting something, try doing basic math. Your own link says $6B was paid through ITNs. There are other 20M illegal immigrants living in the US: https://insights.som.yale.edu/insights/yale-study-finds-twice-as-many-undocumented-immigrants-as-previous-estimates Let's take an extremely conservative estimate and say only 50% of those 20M are working adults using ITNs (of course it is way higher). That means $6B/10M people illegal immigrants are paying a grand whooping total of only $600 in income taxes per year, which is an absolute joke. Sorry basic math is too hard for you. There are far more illegal immigrants getting paid under the table and under reporting income, if at all, beside they're tax dodgers. And now you want to give them free handouts of cash paid for by our citizens who pay way, wayyyyy more in income taxes to run this country. ITNS are a joke. You cannot hold a job LEGALLY without a valid I9 and a social security number. Period. Any taxes paid using an ITN is only what is self reported, which is it only average out to a paltry $600 or less per illegal immigrant. If they were here legally and paying an appropriate level of taxes, they'd have a social security number that'd allow the IRS to audit their ass and force them to pay a helluva a lot more than a measly $600 per year in taxes. Many are paying $0 and you want to give them cash handout, free school lunches, and free health care. Ridiculous. |
Oh right, privilege is now = to having parents whom give a sh!t. What am astounding stupid definition. Maybe you shouldn't have kids at all if you're a low life degenerate on welfare who is unwilling to discipline your kids. |
It's 2023, not 1900, dimwit. Our immigration laws have changed. Our modes of transportation and economy have changed. Are you really this stupid to compare migration in 1900 to the year 2023? Jesus f'in Christ.... |
