The Blind Side scandal

My take is that he has always known he was under a conservatorship but was told this was exactly like adoption when he was 18 and really never understood the distinction between a conservatorship and adoption until much later (he claims February 2023, but who knows the truth).

I think he feels that he (and the public) were mislead by the Tuohys, which seems like a legitimate claim. He is asking for a yearly accounting of the conservatorship (also a legitimate request, IMO), since it appears this was never done by the Tuohys.

A big deal is made of the movie royalties in the news stories, but, my guess is that he is also interested in speaking fees Leanne Tuohy has received, money the family foundation has raised, etc.

Court case could be embarrassing for the Touhys and Ole Miss. Should be some good stuff that comes out in discovery.

Tuohys seem like typical rich white boomers who can't figure out why he isn't just grateful to them. Are they Maga Trumpsters as well? That would have been annoying as hell too for Michael Oher.

My impression as well.

Yes he is lying to the extent he claims he thought he was legally adopted. They never claimed that.

Ever piece of media she puts out say they adopted him.

I'm so confused about why a family that is so wealthy was taking money from the movie at all - why didn't they ensure it all went to him? I could see if they were average people who might have needed it to get by, but that wasn't the case.

Also, separate from the Tuohys, the more insane issue seems to me to be that a court appointed a conservatorship for a perfectly competent black man, and then allowed it to continue past the age that it was supposed to, with no accounting from the conservators.

Her Insta description includes "Mother to 3 great kids." She is not Michael's mother, only his conservator.

If you're truly confused by this, then you have not been paying attention to life.

They would not know. How do you think they would know?

Because per the terms of a conservatorshop, the Tuohys would have needed to approve any business contract. It seems they did that, but it remains to be seen whether they took an inappropriate cut and/or kept all Blind Side profits for themselves. That’s his specific complaint and he wants them to stop profiting from his story, which seems reasonable. Pretty gross they became celebrities, with who knows what perks, too.

And used his name and likeness to promote books and speaking engagements. Why would they not end the conservatorship years ago. Their actions matter so much more than their words

When did he previously seek to end it and faced their opposition? Never.

They claim they never got paid from the conservatorship. If true, that’s easily proven. Much more easily than if there wasn’t a conservatorship in place.

Why would it be up to him to end it particularly if he didn’t know what it was. Once again their actions speak volumes.

Why wouldn’t he know what it is? He’s a grown man. Who by the way is lying when he claims he didn’t know he wasn’t legally adopted. It’s been the public narrative the whole time.

No way. The public narrative has been that they adopted him. You also can’t have it both ways he needed a conservatorship but also he was a grown man? So if he was competent enough to understand everything then why did they feel they needed to be in charge of a conservatorship?

My confusion is why did this take so long to come out. He was recently married- wonder if the wife uncovered any of this? Or does she want more?

Good for him for marrying someone smart enough to want the truth for her husband and their family.

They’ve been together for a long time, have four kids. Don’t think Tuoheys were invited to his wedding, so this may have been brewing for a while. I think the Tuoheys’ lawyer is also Brad Pitt’s. That means he’s a master of spin.

Well, he says in is court filing he knew the relationship was a conservatorship and not an adoption, so that’s a clue.
