If you are a lawyer, you know that OP/dc can get more than just the OOP. There is pain and suffering involved here. |
m I would have chased it and kicked it again. Dogs who bite should be out down. No question about it. The dog is done and should not be allowed in public ever again. I’d press charges, especially bc of the owners crappy response. |
|
So interesting how this thread goes on and on. People genuinely hate bad dog owners
Good |
Insurance will pay, an attorney will take 1/3 and the woman will have her insurance cancelled. She Should pay your medical bills and apologize for her dog being loose. |
Plus, treble damages in certain jurisdictions. |
Yes - and people hate disingenuous neighbors even more! |
The kind who need to know whether my child needed rabies vaccines. Police wouldn’t have been involved if the neighbors would have emailed us the records as we asked. |
Treble damages for a dog bite that was treated with a trip to an urgent care clinic and an antibiotic shot? You're out of your mind. Signed, a lawyer who lives on planet Earth |
I think PP is saying that the dog's owners were a-holes for not voluntarily handing over the records, not that you were a jerk for asking for them. |
Ah ok, there have been a lot of hateful trolls so I wasn’t sure. |
| I would leave a note for the neighbor with a copy of the bill. Let them know you were provided with ring camera footage and you will file charges if they do not reimburse you. |
File charges for what? Owning a dog that bites someone isn't a crime. |
Neither is shooting your untrained dog Problem solved |
Um, allowing your unleashed/unrestrained dog to attack someone on a public sidewalk is a charge. There are leash laws. |
Where? What's the statute? Leash laws aren't criminal. |
