A leper is “a person who is avoided or rejected by others for moral or social reasons.” Yes. That rejection has happened for a long time. |
It hasn’t even started. |
The system is messed up because qualified kids are being rejected in favor of less qualified kids. |
Ok, you think that,. |
Stereotyping happens in all types. My family just got here, and did nothing to your family. |
Define “qualified.” |
Huh? Until this poster fesses up as to what school rejected him and what "less qualified" student took his spot ..that is bull crap. Did kid get rejected from Harvard or something? Cry us a river |
You want to assume I got a free scholarship under your free scholarship terms. Shove your assumptions. |
Look around on campus. Yes, you are right, it absolutely stinks worse than bull crap. You don't know where this kid was rejected from, or his story, so stop pretending to know. He has the stats, period. |
Let me spell this out for you. If someone has the stats, they are qualified. |
|
Someone on this thread feels owed even though they don't have the stats.
Interesting. What else they feel owed? Psshhht. |

Harvard and the like are looking for the next LEADERS. That has nothing to do with test scores or GPA. In the real work, looks, appearance, height, determination, grit, time-management, bravery, wealth, brand and other factors matter more than your child’s AP Chem score.
They want athletes, activists, kids who’ve had a paying job throughout high school, celebrities, true geniuses, musicians and diamonds in the rough. Kids in those categories are most likely to go on to shine as leaders. |
That’s meaningless. Tens of thousands of kids got “the” stats (whatever that means). And many of those kids will have poor social skills, be rude, be too one-dimensional and not be able to relate to anyone different from them. |
But it's not a lottery. A lottery treats everyone the same. But most kids who get into top colleges noawadays are "hooked." Having a "hook" is basically like a cheat code. Would you still play the mega millions lottery where nobody wins except those with a golden key to open the hidden treasure vault? |
Definitely! Going to a prestige school and having that on your resume Doesn't Matter At All when applying for jobs in the few years right after graduation. When receiving 300 applications for the same position, hiring managers do _not_ consider your undergrad institution -- At All! -- when deciding which of the 300 applications to consider further. Their algorithms also don't search for the names of selected schools to whittle down the literally thousands of blind applications that come in through job boards. And definitely, hiring teams from top companies do on-campus recruiting at 100% of all US colleges during senior year -- they don't just restrict their recruiting to certain schools! Somehow they have the resources to fan out across the country and be present at 2,000 colleges to talk to any qualified undergrad. So glad you shared this secret PP |
