This seems like the ultimate non-sequitur to me. FCPS has very few schools that aren’t now majority-minority and the “White” students often come from very diverse backgrounds, including the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Russia. So why push videos like this unless it’s some flex to demonstrate that Whites can now be singled out at will for ridicule or demonization? It seems like it will incentivize some White families to leave for less hostile environments or could end up radicalizing some White students in ways that otherwise wouldn’t have occurred.

There are far kinder ways to teach kids to respect each other and their differences than what this video and similar tools are peddling. Hint: they don’t involve flamethrowers to torch your peers for micro-aggressions.

The video includes all kinds of microaggressions. It doesn’t single out white people.

No reasonable person watching that video would reach that conclusion.

Take off your red cap and go rewatch it.

It covers all sorts of microaggressions from various people.

I guess certain white people want to play victim about anything they can.

Well, let's recap. The first person committing a micro-aggression is a blonde White girl/woman. She then turns into the pesky, annoying mosquito. The group of victims of frequent micro-aggressions early in the video are all non-White. Conversely, the speakers committing the micro-aggressions all have typical White accents. There is one White (gay) victim of a micro-aggression. But then White people are shown as indifferent to the micro-aggressions suffered by the Black woman wielding the flamethrower. The bad cop is a White guy. Then there's another group of victims of micro-aggressions, all non-White. They get to use the flyswatters to squash the mosquito (i.e., the White person at the beginning of the video).

It's an offensive anti-White video that shouldn't be shown in FCPS schools.

And ironic that the PP is accusing white people of "playing victim," when clearly this video shows white people as the aggressors and POC as... victims.

White people invented and created 99 percent of everything in modern civilization. Also created the only countries the world flocks to and even breaks into out of desperation to be in a white created environment.

Make a movie about that.

Ugh, 99% of all movies made has been about that.

Not surprisingly, white supremacists are perfectly fine with racism.

But everybody flocks from all over the world to be close to and live in countries full of mosquitoes. It’s like they are gluttons for punishment.

And those immigrants, including those from Africa, miraculously do extremely well here, out-earning native born Americans within a generation. It's amazing that they are able to overcome all of the microaggressions. It's almost like hard work and free will pay off in a free country.

That’s true: Some immigrants, including some immigrants from Africa do well here. It’s amazing what NOT growing up in countries that discriminate against you can do for your well-being. Also, while it might not be typical, I’ve known two types of African immigrants. All came for better opportunities. Some of them are working in menial jobs — so we’ll see how their children do. Others came here with more money than most of us could even dream of for elite graduation education and job opportunities. Both groups have substantial differences from those of us who’ve been dealing with American brands of racism since birth.

It stands out that your only metric for “doing extremely well here” is earnings. Perhaps you should provide information on the micro and macro-aggressions that they’ve experienced instead of assuming that the “pay off” is just fine. While I’m not dismissing the importance of financial success, it’s disingenuous—at most — to assume that that’s the only metric that matters. And even that generalization on your part leaves out quite a bit of meaningful data.

You don’t think there’s discrimination in African countries, and other countries for that matter? the US does not have a monopoly on discrimination.

I like how white people cannot somehow experience microaggressions, especially women.

They do have an example of this in the video but it reminded me of a time when I was walking somewhere and a man (with his date by his side) asked me where I was going. Like it was any of his business!!

So you didn’t watch the video. They include many examples of non-racial microaggressions.

I'm a white woman and I'm not offended, actually enjoying watching this stupid, divisive garbage, which people like you think is opening people's eyes and making them think about their pathetic self, do quite the opposite. I have never seen less empathy for the POC community than I do now. In fact, it's almost comical the way people are laughing now.

I can't tell you the number of times I've had to explain to a black co-worker or even a black person in public that: 1) no, I'm not Chinese and all Asians are not Chinese, 2) I cannot speak Chinese, 3) I do not know Kung Fu, and 4) Thailand is not Taiwan.

But I guess the all-look-same stereotype oesn't count as a microaggression.

Everything is so serious these days. Where is the video on how to respond with humor and strength? There are no responses in these videos.

Stop lying.

It’s shows MANY DIFFERENT TYPES of aggressors. Not just white people.

Forget about the racial bit. Comparing a race to an animal is inappropriate. I would be equally upset if they compare to White's the polar bears

You just expended a lot of words, probably attempting to sound intelligent, but really just sounds like nonsense. And ignorant nonsense at that. You took away "divisive garbage" from something that is not remotely either of those things. Why? Because you like to just say and do whatever you want, or let others do so, without educating on them why they shouldn't do so?

There's someone pathetic here. But it's the person in your mirror.

And yes at the end, the POC seem very annoyed by the micro-aggressions and hit the mosquitoes. Is that what you mean by saying the video implies minorities could engage in violence against white people? Because that is not what I got at all from this video. You know what is scary OP? How some conservatives are completely overreacting to CRT and the like. See Florida. I agree that we should focus on academics more than anything. But this fear mongering is scary. And the Federalist is biased AF OP. They are right wing and very much pro-school choice/not fond of public schools. But I am guessing you are already knew that, no?

There was also a flamethrower.

Yes. Do you think the video was saying, literally, take a flame thrower and kill white people? Because I thought it was hyperbole, showing a woman so sick of being bitten by mosquitoes that she felt LIKE taking a flame thrower to all of them buzzing around her. Somehow I was able to distinguish between this cartoon frustration and.... reality.

DP. I agree, however - let's not pretend that liberals wouldn't have blown that flame thrower out of all proportion had the video been directed at them. Absolutely no doubt they would be feigning outrage over the purported "violence" being depicted.

I don't see how it's productive to tell students they are entitled to "feel" like taking a flame thrower or a flyswatter to other people just because they've said microaggressions (and, of course, happen to be white).

There's a certain amount of paternalism involved in thinking some students deserve to be patronized this way, and others should just suck it up and accept that they are now the official bad guys, even at their public schools.

+100
So true. Paternalism and condescension. The left's specialty.

God, you two are dumb. It's not telling them how to feel. It's representing how it is often felt. I've experienced this first hand as a woman. After a lifetime of being mistaken for the "secretary" and being called sweetie, and told to smile . . .

But, I'm SOOOO lucky I have you to tell me that I'm not entitled to feel that way.
