I don't think a sleeper can win states this year. Robinson and LB should be close to locks for Region C. Madison and either Yorktown or Langley for Region D. Battlefield in Region C, but Freedom South Riding could be tough this year and give Patriot a run for the second spot. Oakton, Westfield, and Centreville will all be improved at the bottom half of the top 10. |
| Looks like Battlefield is playing a regular season game against St. Mary's Annapolis. That's pretty ambitious - St. Mary's has something like 17 commits and finished last year #6 in the country. |
LB beat Robo last year in the Regional semi in one of the best public high school lacrosse games I've seen in some time. Then LB fell apart in the Regional final. The LB and Robo rosters know each other really well with different club connections. I don't think the fear factor is there anymore. LB still needs to make the mental leap to win states, but they don't fear Robo along that path. |
South County. Won't win states, but I think they will do better than folks expect. |

Some preseason love for some of the 6A teams.
MadLax has Lake Braddock at 11, Madison at 12, and Robinson at 18. https://capital.madlax.com/dmvlax |

Preseason Top 10
1. Madison 2. Lake Braddock 3. Robinson 4. Battlefield 5. Yorktown 6. Langley 7. Oakton 8. Centreville 9. South County 10. Chantilly It's really murky after Battlefield, any team could have a good run/great season, but they're not close to the top 4. |

great to see Madison challenging themselves and playing IAC Power Landon.
Riverside is also playing St Albans from the IAC. Anyone have intel on LB or Robinson's nonconference schedule, are they playing any privates? |
|
Here's how I see it:
1. Madison 2. Lake Braddock 3. Battlefield 4. Robinson 5. Yorktown 6. Patriot 7. Langley 8. Freedom South Riding 9. Oakton 10. Westfield Teams to Watch: Centreville, Chantilly, South County |
LB is not. Robinson is playing Georgetown Prep. |
|
Public/private matchups (in terms of descending difficulty):
Battlefield/St. Mary's Annapolis Robinson/Georgetown Prep Madison/Landon Madison/PVI (scrimmage) Yorktown/Heights Langley/Sidwell |
Independence HS! |
| Indy should be decent but they are Class 5. They do have games against Freedom and Battlefield (and scrimmages with Oakton and John Champe) so we can see some Class 5 v Class 6. |
LB has more D1 commits than the rest of the teams combined. |
They also had all those same players last year and got routed by Yorktown in the first round of states. Madison is #1 until proven otherwise. |
|
Until proven otherwise in an actual game, Madison is the best team out of the nova publics.
Mad respect for Battlefield for playing Saint Marys from the MIAA and Robinson for playing Georgetown Prep. |
