The ugliest renovation in the DMV

Well, it's pending, so all they needed was one buyer who liked it...

I want to say a dentist bought it and it will be his office—right on a Main Street, catches your eye….

I drive by here every day, and I've watched with horror as some crazy builder took a tiny old brick Cape that's situated right on the corner of two busy streets and backing onto the Purple Line and turned it into something resembling a Howard Johnsons. From the listing the inside is almost worse than the outside. At any price it would be a horror show. They can't actually think they'll get $2.1m for this, can they? It was originally listed in December for $2.3m.

Btw this is what it used to look like: https://www.estately.com/listings/info/8618-jones-mill-road

that is a cold house. eww.

OP here - I'm stunned. I guess there is a buyer for every ugly house. Amazing that the Howard Johnson's house sold before this one, just down the street, which is just garden variety tacky huge pink McMansion: https://www.redfin.com/MD/Chevy-Chase/8801-Walnut-Hill-Rd-20815/home/10638088

I wonder if they will turn it into a drive through popeyes or a drone shipping launch pad.

The fact that it's PENDING means (I guess) that it's an all cash no contingencies offer?

I mean good for everyone involved. There's a foot for every shoe, and an ass for every chair.

The two links show the same home.

That's literally $1m less than the original asking price! The original house sold for $700k in 2021, so presumably the flipper at least covered his costs

Not trying to be mean or ugly, but this house should be priced around $1.1M if they actually plan to sell it. And even then it'll be a tough sell.

They should have left that original bungalow and updated it.

Went for more than that!!

But it was a fantastic tax write-off and offset gains elsewhere.
