I drive by here every day, and I've watched with horror as some crazy builder took a tiny old brick Cape that's situated right on the corner of two busy streets and backing onto the Purple Line and turned it into something resembling a Howard Johnsons. From the listing the inside is almost worse than the outside. At any price it would be a horror show. They can't actually think they'll get $2.1m for this, can they? It was originally listed in December for $2.3m. Btw this is what it used to look like: https://www.estately.com/listings/info/8618-jones-mill-road |
| That looks like a chain dental clinic in a middle class suburb of Columbus Ohio |
| I hope that's on a hill, because from the pictures it looks like the house is slanted. |
It’s on a hill, and slanted and appallingly horrible. To top it all off, it’s literally 5 steps from a busy road and traffic light, and the purple one. . Thx for posting this, have been dying to see what they were going to list at. It’s is truly awful |
| Is there no electricity? Why is it so dark?? And what is that gold stripe across the tile floor? |
Ha my first though was oral surgery office. |
| I was expecting this post to be a gross exaggeration, but no, it’s that bad. The biggest problem is the windows. They are out of scale (too small) which leads to zero curb appeal and a dark house. Like the whole house is dark. I get that it’s a busy street but the way to deal with this is through custom light filtering window treatments- not small windows. They likely just bought the standard size windows because they were cheap though, not to maintain any privacy. Also does the front door walk directly into the kitchen/living room combo which has that awful cold busy ceramic tile? That sets a bad tone for the whole house. I honestly think it would have been fine with modern windows of the appropriate scale, hardwood throughout (or certainly no ceramic tile on the main level), and a better kitchen layout. |
| Oh my! That kitchen floor! That kitchen!! Looks like the display kitchens you see at Home Depot. Why is it so dark? And yes, why does the exterior look like a dentist's office? |
| That kitchen looks tiny for a home that size and price. |
| Dear Lord. This is BAD. |
|
Why no professional photos I wonder?
The original house before this monstrosity was built was actually darling! Pretty little cape. What a mistake for whoever bought this house and destroyed it. Paid $700K, but I doubt they'll get more than $1.2M for it and that'll be only because of the square footage and because people are desperate. |

Poorly done. Floor is ugly. Can’t stand islands without seating. Soffits above cabinets cheapen it. Bathroom layouts make no sense. And I’m not a fan of vanities that leave little spaces by the wall for grime and dust to collect.
And then there’s the exterior. Oof. |
| OMG, builders, please stop making houses that look like shipping containers. |
| Floor is ugly but outside looks better than all these dilapidated DC grandma houses |
Outside looks like an emergency vet. |
