Who’s surprised ACPS hasn’t updated the dashboard yet? Anyone? |
It's updated now. It reflects what I've heard through the grapevine. Two at the high school, two at Hammond, one at GW and one each at three elementary schools. Those numbers don't seem so terrible or surprising to me. The real question will be whether they remain steady or grow exponentially over the next few weeks. |
Without comprehensive testing in place, I would assume there are a lot more than one of two cases at most of these schools, especially GWMS! |
We just got another email about Tucker ES. That must be case #5. |
Another notice about a case at GW tonight. And does anyone really trust the contact tracing process and that they’ll notifying all families that deserve to know their child was near someone diagnosed with COVID?! There needs to be more broad notification so that other students at risk of exposure test quickly (esp since ACPS currently has no testing in place). For example, if my kid sat in the same class as a student with COVID, even more than 3-6 feet away, I would want my child tested right away. It’s quickly becoming apparent this isn’t going to go well and there aren’t enough mitigation strategies or safeguards in place. But “Equity for All!” |
Our school has had a case and is still showing 0. |
Are other area schools really dealing with this differently? Is ACPS somehow an outlier? It sounds like school in PW and Fredericksburg already had outbreaks. Anyone know how APS and Fairfax are fairing? |
APS is doing testing and outdoor lunch. FCPS is allowing outdoor lunch and will require student athletes to be vaccinated. Plenty of things happening in other districts and ACPS won’t move the needle. I would love to know how all the federal dollars, designated for keeping schools open safely, are being spent with very few protective measures in place. ACPS received millions in funding. |
Fairfax County is also requiring vaccination for student athletes. ACPS/Hutchings is showing so little imitative on this and he has empowered his principals to ignore parent legitimate concerns and be outright hostile just like him. |
It’s all for SEAL WTAF that is. |
I want to see a breakdown of these SEAL expenses. Like, truly, how are millions of dollars being spent (er, wasted)? Our ACPS elementary school’s one psychologist left last year and they still don’t have a replacement. So much for supporting kids’ social-emotional learning. There is zero plan or accountability from this school district right now. |
All that I saw last year was a waste of what little time was available in class talking about how to be a good friend and doing meditation during class time. :S |
Yes, same! |
Exactly! How does that cost millions of dollars? The community is owed an explantation for the spending of these federal dollars, which should be used toward facilitating safe reopening of school buildings and catching students up academically. |
