help me calm down! UTI and keflex 500mg antibiotics

I took antibiotics for UTIs with my pregnancies. They are fine- totally active and healthy kids. Your baby will be fine.

OP did you talk to your doctor to confirm this is the med she wants you on? I’m 37w with my second and just finished antibiotics for a UTI. It’s common.

OP - it was the resident who said that’s what the doctor recommended (I was in pain and alone so didn’t ask further or look at the info on the label), I called the nurse line and she said it sounds reasonable but she can’t know since it was the resident. I guess I’m trying to find every excuse to not take it but the discomfort and that sensation is still there. I only have an appointment on Wednesday afternoon bc that’s when my urine culture results come in, front desk said no other availabilities before that. Maybe I should call again tomorrow to talk to a doctor? I’m in a small town it’s a small 3 doctor practice.

How long did you take yours for and what was your dosage?

You’re also putting your baby at risk not taking them as prescribed. Untreated UTI can turn into full blown kidney infections. Why would you wait to take after starting this thread yesterday?????

OP - ha I get that and god I wish I could take every medicine under the sun (and with my first I took epidural and everything they offered) but I don’t think this statement goes for pregnancy, because there is “extra credit” for not having to take class b or lower drugs that could impact baby

But of course I’m now spotting and waiting for doctor to call me back.

Share your UTI and antibiotics safe use healthy babies stories with me. And how can I not get these? I haven’t had sex in a long time I wipe right I drink water what happened?

A UTI can get very serious. Take the antibiotic and act like you are an adult not an Adult idiot!

OP - I am taking it I could bear through the pain I have to take it. But doesn’t mean I don’t have a panic attack every time I pull out the pill bottle and wonder if I’m harming my baby a mom can always worry right?

Stop worrying. Calm down. Take the meds.

UTI can trigger premature labor. Better to take the drugs than not take it.

Go to a health food store and get no sugar added cranberry juice.

The organs are pretty much done forming by the end of the 1st trimester.

OP - thank you great idea I just got some added from Whole Foods and the d mannoose which I’ll ask my OB about tomorrow.
