| 13 year old son continued his sleepovers with his best friend after her family got vaccinated. They've been continuing for 4 months now and neither of them have got sick. She lives on our block and we had a pod going with her family before then, but didn't risk sleepovers till both families were vaccinated. |
5 months, not 4 |
|
Would permit, regardless of vaccination status.
Here's the reality: nothing that you do, as an individual, will reduce or extend the length of this pandemic. It's been 18 months; life can no longer be put on hold |
YOU are the reason this will go on for another two years. OF COURSE, you can do so much as an individual. Get vaccinated, wear a mask, don't go to super spreader events. HOW ARE WE STILL REPEATING THIS!!!!!!!????? |
Because that's what we've been doing for 18 months, and it hasn't worked. Because nothing that my family does is going to change what people in Florida or Mississippi or Texas do. Because no matter 'goals' are set by the decision makers, they keep changing. I'm not going to sacrifice literally YEARS of my children's childhood for a disease which doesn't really pose us any harm, especially when the few people we need to protect won't actually protect themselves? No, I'm vaxxed. Spouse is vaxxed. One child is vaxxed and the other will be when they turn 12. But I've moved on. |
Your life philosophy sucks. |
| No. They are already getting lots of exposure eating at lunch together. I ended up sick after sleepovers just from staying up all night and that was long before Covid. Now I think it would be a miracle if Covid didn't spread. especially if we are talking about that many people. Think about all the people they interact with and their family members, then think about viral load and how much bigger it is after spending all those hours side by side without a mask as opposed to just spending lunch without a mask. |
That is 1 other kid you know well...not 14. |
NP. I think this poster makes a lot of sense. Particularly the bolded. Is your life philosophy you should keep gnashing and wailing to try to get tens of millions of people do what you want and in the mean time be miserable? I reject that life philisophy. I do think we all have an obligation to vote, speak up to our elected officials, speak up in situations with friends and family who trust our opinion and will listen. If PP is doing that, then leave her alone. |
| Yes, because my kid is vaccinated. I'd like to know the vaccine status of the other kids, but not sure I would ask. |
Meh, the self-righteous self-flagellation despite no real benefit is a pretty sucky life philosophy too. One I won't subscribe to |
+1. And your teen and her friends likely got their shots within the past few months so immunity is higher. |
|
Yes. Just hosted 7 elementary girls a few nights ago. They slept in the sunroom, windows open, fan on and a HEPA air filter in the corner on high.
I was a bit surprised everyone invited accepted. But they did. |
That's because 'DCUM isn't Real Life' and about 98% of the world has returned to pre-pandemic times, even if the cautious, educated, and science-believing DMV. And that's a good thing. The pearl-clutching COVID forever crowd only lives in places like DCUM or Twitter, but not in real life |
