Time to require all teachers to get vaxxed with no testing opt-out

DC is providing not just medical and religious opt outs but also an “I don’t want to get the vaccine so will instead get weekly testing” opt out

Inside each school for the convenience of teachers. The DCPS vaccine mandate is toothless. And if an unvaccinated teachers test positive and needs to quarantine... they can chose to virtually teach students so they won't have to use any sick leave.

As always, students first….

Then any parent refusing to get their child vaccinated should have to homeschool.

Actually this is not the case, if they are well enough they HAVE TO teach virtually. This is DCPS’s protocol.

Can we make them do both? Vax and weekly testing?

You cannot make them do anything!

Time to mandate vaccines for anyone of age, mandate N95s, mandate weekly testing for vaccinated staff and daily for unvaccinated students, mandate x number of air exchanges an hour in a classroom as measured by x% CO2 in each classroom.

Students who are eligible need a vaccine mandate too or are we just anti-teacher here?

In NYC, the teachers union supports this, as they should.

No problem, as long as they also require it for all students age 12 and up with no opt out.

Big difference. The FDA has said the COVID vaccine is proven safe and effective for 16+. Meanwhile, it also said: “ The safety and effectiveness of COMIRNATY in individuals younger than 16 years of age have not been established.”

This is a weird whataboutism. Why are you suggesting a roadblock to teacher vaccination?

Or they could just do the responsible thing and get vaccinated.

Your understanding of air flow in rooms and CO2 is uh, remedial at best.

Why just teachers? What about the rest of the staff at the school? Do you think teachers are the only people who come in contact with your kids?

Not just teachers. Anyone in school or child care, just like anyone working in medical facility should be vaxxed. Teachers and child care providers do have the most contact, however.

You all keep throwing up bizarre counter-arguments that do nothing to support the position that people who work with children, especially young children who cannot be vaccinated and sometimes who cannot wear masks, should not be required to be vaccinated. I’m appalled at the low vaccination rates reported among daycare centers, most of which have ~6 week old babies in them. It’s awful. It’s time to mandate it, just as many many other employers are mandating it.
