The bigger issue is Hutchings claiming that systemic racism contributed to ACPS’s decision to keep physically closed, not the dual pandemic language per se.

Just wanted to add that Hutchings' attitude to the Covid pandemic can be summed up in his response to a board request to speed up the timeframe (from September 20 to August 30) to require staff to report vaccination status or submit to weekly testing. He exclaimed that such a move would be "extreme," "unreasonable," and a "knew-jerk reaction," to the concern among the community. He noted that the masks in schools, cleaning, symptom checklist and temperature checks were keeping students safe. By now, a lot of employers, private, federal, state and local are requiring that employees report vaccination status. It is not that hard.

So, I came across this, and perhaps you are talking about Dr. Reed's book: https://alexlibraryva.org/event/4475332 I can't find anything suggesting that Dr. Hutchings has a book coming out, but again, to the person who posted about it, please send link and info about it.

+1 We decided to homeschool bc virtual learing revealed how thin the curriculum is and how little they seemed to care about my neurodivergent kid. But I find him particularly without a clue about how to handle all of this.

The past year definitely revealed a lot of problems in ACPS. With the curriculum and with the administration.
