How can you raise academically inclined children?

We visit colleges and I take her on tours or she talks with family members who are very successful and learns from them. I have a master's and she actually saw me study for it and she asked to learn how to study like I did so I showed her. She thrived even more. I provide a lot of rich learning experiences to support her interests. I also tell her I will do everything in my power to nurture her education so that she reaches her goal as an astrophysicist.

You sound like a great parent but you may want to research the job market for astrophysicists. There are a lot of extremely bright people out there with degrees in astrophysics who can’t get a job and have no other practical skills.

Figure out why you hated it and help them. I figured out I was dyslexic and I got them help and tutoring and tutoring and more tutoring.

At the same time, I warned not to look down on fast food jobs ect. Those are hard working people. My first job was in fast food. I am happy
to can share the blood and sweat stories of working hard to make a dollar. I actually want DS to taste that kind of job to motivatie him to work and climb up higher.
He said he wont do that, he prefer to invest in the stock instead.... okay smarty panty kid..he's 12 btw, so its still early.

I make it clear money doesnt grown on trees. Currently, I make him do his own laundry and take the recycle plus trash out. I also said, the older you get the more responsibilities you will have. Life isn't free. He does get an allowance. He is a good kid so have't had to deduct money for not doing chores... for now.

I realize there is a language difference here, but smarty panty kid is now my fave

Nuture their interest. Engage in conversation and encourage questions. Expose them to new things, people, and places. Teach (or have someone teach) Study Habits. Instill a work ethic, the ability to ask for help, and an understanding that failure doesn’t have to be final. Give them boundaries but also space to learn, make mistake, and grow. Create high standards.

The rest is HOPE.

Read to them and read with them.
I read everything with my kids from cereal boxes to airport signs.

Read to them every day from the time they are babies. And have lots of books around that you read yourself.

With that said, some people just aren't academically inclined. I am an academic born into a family which hates learning and teachers. Go figure.
