I don't think ACPS will open. Kids will be home again. |
Can they do that? |
The Post reported today that the mask issue will be discussed at an early August school board meeting: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/washington-region-schools-masks-fall/2021/07/29/46cdcb3c-f079-11eb-81d2-ffae0f931b8f_story.html |
They will open - 98% sure. Anyone know what percent of kids chose virtual Virginia? |
ACPS WILL open, in spite your irrational fears. |
Samuel Tucker ES starts on August 9, so they need to make decisions soon. |
Of course all public schools will open.
Schools in our area will even mandate masks. Kids will spread Delta at lunch time. Then there will be a Delta wave in the fall, and if hospitals are overwhelmed, schools and workplaces might have to go online. That's it. You have all the information you need, namely, that hospital beds and doctor/nurse scarcity will determine closures. As they should. |
FCPS is as well— K-12. ACPS won’t be the only DMV district unmasked. Although LCPS has been a mess latterly, so… |
NO. VA passed the bill requiring minimum school hours / days (990 hours or 180 days) be in person with a live teacher. Not Zoom in a Room. |
What? Is this new? The last I saw was a recommendation for non vaccinated in high transmission areas. |

Agree. APS, DCPS, FCPS are requiring that all staff are vaccinated. |
Yeah this is not cool - all the surrounding school districts are doing it. I would feel much safer as a teacher and definitely for kids th best way to protect them is for the adults around them to be vaccinated. I still feel like they will just end up doing it when they realize everyone else is - that they are just bumbling around with it… same with the mask article that started this thread |
